Even Dino doesn't play an 8-string for the F#-tuned songs anymore, he pitch-shifts his main 7 through his Kemper for it.
When the band started playing Soul Hacker at around 14:41 here, he and his tech forgot to use the pitch shifter for a minute and a half.
I never heard of anyone using Dragonfly/Harry's Engineering guitars outside of Japan. I know about them because Toru from ONE OK ROCK and Yoma from The Winking Owl have used their guitars.
The first time I heard the name Imagine Dragons, I thought they were gonna be a power metal band a la DragonForce. Suffice to say I was disappointed when I found out they were just a pop band.
I just saw on /r/PowerMetal about Wintersun supposedly using AI art for their album promo.
Imagine spending more than a decade crafting an album that was deemed not perfect enough for release yet, and then you slap on crappy AI-generated nonsense because you couldn't bother to give time to make...
Marty Friedman is the Tim Henson of 80s shred guitarists. I'm very sure he's just fucking around with his interviewers with his absurd statements much like Tim's "boomer bends" and "metal isn't cool" comments.
Didn't Misha say batteries are for flashlights, not pickups? 😅
We can safely assume the Lundgren M pickups can djent, but I'm not sure about its versatility, which is partly why I made this thread. The Alpha/Omega set seems to be the best at that considering Mark likes to use clean/split tones...
Dang, this thread quickly turned into a Periphery clowning thread. I could've easily posted this in /r/Periphery if I wanted to, but this place seems less biased (as in fanboyism) and more experienced with pickups/gear.
I excluded Nolly's BKP Polymaths because those were released after he left...
Oh, I was thinking of the online djent/prog metal community in general. I know DiMarzio is still a well-known pickup company, especially among Ibanez players since some of their guitars come stock with them, but I don't see much reach with their aftermarket pickups besides the Titans and the...
I'm feeling kinda bored so I want to hear all of your thoughts on the signature pickups Periphery's guitarists have released through the years. Misha, Jake, and Mark have released not one, but two of their pickup sets through Bare Knuckle, DiMarzio, and Seymour Duncan, respectively.
I'm very...
The reactions here are different from what I'm seeing in /r/Metalcore, probably because everyone there got soured at how Keith became a huge dick which caused the breakup of ETID, and also that the instrumentals are lacking compared to what Better Lovers have put out.
Sempiternal is the band's magnum opus. The follow-up, That's The Spirit, is pretty good albeit a lot more poppy, amo is a very mixed bag, and Survival Horror is a great collection of songs that I'd describe as a more modernized Linkin Park.
Their earlier works definitely lean more into...
Kami Band's guitarists (or at least the Japanese side, they have different members for the US shows) are all ESP dudes (or were in Leda's case, he's now a Strandberg artist).
