    Pickup recommendations for an SG?

My main guitars are SGs and they can be a bit of a pain to get pickups for. I have two Raw Power Sgs and one baritone SG. One loaded with a Perpetual Burn/High Voltage and the other has a Invader/Pearly Gates. The baritone has a Naz/FS set in it but that guitar is strictly for my grind band...

    NGD: Dunable Cyclops

Congrats on the Dunable. Understandable about the QC issues. I have 4 Dunables and any issue that has ever come up, Sacha has fixed it or offset it in one way or another. He just might take a minute to get back to you. Also, Love the ash body with the Cyclops shape. Mine is similar but with...

Peavey Triple X - Better Than The 5150?

I still have mine and have never ever heard it sound thin. But I love my XXX. I doubt I'll ever sell it just cause it's like a homebase amp for me. They are especially brutal with a Rat or a SD1 boosting it

    Pickup suggestions

I would've said BW with a 59 but the low mids on them might bug you. So I'd say a Nazgul with a Jazz, Sentient or Invader neck. Depends on how bright you like your neck pickups. Though not what you're looking for, I love the Invader set with a Series/Parallel switch. Changes the bridge to sound...

Many Eyes - Keith Buckley's New Project

Eh, the breakup is just divisive among ETID fans. There was clearly some underlying tension that was not being handled and it had been there for a while. That being said, Better Lovers has better instrumentals but I wish they had chosen a different singer. Greg is great and I love Dillinger...

Seymour Duncan now offering El Diablo and Slug as production pickups

This^ Invaders in Jacksons is a beautiful brutal combo. I've got the Invader in 3 guitars and when you know how to set it and if you're able to use a series/parallel switch, it becomes a much more versatile pickup.

    What's your favorite neck pickup?

SD FS SD Pearly Gates Gibson 490r EMG 60 I like them for different things but overall those are my fave.

    NGD: pointy

Killer Jackson. Also agreed on the Invader. Such a fun pickup. Add a series/parallel switch for extra versatility. So good. I like mine matched with a Full Shred or a matched set. If you're feeling adventurous a 59 bridge or 78 bridge also make a good neck pairing to the Invader.

Seymour Duncan now offering El Diablo and Slug as production pickups

Love the El Diablo! One of my fave Duncans. Never tried the Slug. But the ED is such a killer pickup for brighter guitars

    Vertical 2x12 Sound Dispersion

I regularly play out with my Vader 2x12. I flip it on its side sometimes so it appears vertical. Can't say it sounds thin when farther away from the cab. But we also play with a fair bit of volume. I'd try a different amp or cab combo

How Many of You Don't Use Any Pedals?

I used to use no pedals at all except for a tuner and even that was a lot. Nowadays I use a pedal setup with a clean power amp. Mainly just a boost or two, preamp and a delay but still. I do love pedals for home use.

Lower Gain active mount pickups for a 7 String

It might not be low enough output but a Duncan Custom 7 might be worth looking into. Especially paired with a 59 7 string. Would definitely be versatile. Otherwise I'd look at those Occult Classics or BKP like previously mentioned.

SD Nazgul vs Black Winter vs Jupiter vs Invader

I have a Dax in a partscaster baritone. Really fun pickup. One of the best Dimarzios imo, especially for switching between rhythm and lead a lot. I can't say it sounds much like EMG 81 but it's just as chug happy and brutal.

SD Nazgul vs Black Winter vs Jupiter vs Invader

Out of your selection, I'd say Nazgul. But I don't find it to sound or feel anything like a EMG 81. I think the Duncan FS is most similar to a 81 but only a EMG feels and sounds like one. Also, I use a BW, Naz and Invader in my ash and mahogany 6 string baritones, but for grindy stuff and...

Pickup, OD, Amp, Speaker. The big four of tone! What are you rocking?

I run two separate rigs at this point but for my grindy hardcore band its Duncan Invader, Boss SD-1, SD Powerstage 700, and Emience Swamp Thang/Man O War 4x12 For my normal playing at home Seymour Duncan Perpetual Burn-Black Arts Witch Burner-Orange TV200-Celestion K100 4x12. Love both...
