Everything has fans. Everything was designed to be in a rack. Carvin gets hot but fan blows out the back. I don't think I've ever heard the axefx fan come on. I wouldnt worry about heat.

The Carvin face is hot to the touch and I think that is bleeding up to the axefx which is directly above it. But just keep in mind that all this stuff doesn't have fans or vents on the top and bottom because it's all designed to be squished in a rack.
