    Brutal alt picking exercises

Necrophagist and Obscura riffs typically have lots of alt picking, consider the main riff from Obscura - Septuagint, or Necrophagist - Stabwound. I'd suggest metronoming your way up on some of their songs for alt picking chops as it's a very prominent feature of technical death metal

STOLEN: Dean Dave Mustaine signature in Montreal, Canada

Posting this for a friend. The guitar in question is a Dave Mustaine VMNTxcbk, i.e. it is a V with dot inlays, completely black. I'll attempt to attach an image. It was stolen in the Montreal subway on the way to a gig and was previously owned by a friend who recently passed away, so it has...

    Thoughts please... Ibanez RGD71ALMS-BAM

Make sure you can send the Legator back if you have to. There have been horror stories about their QC in here before, and I'm not sure if they've improved since then.

    Ibanez NAMM 2020

The straight fret isn't 12, but 7 it seems. I wonder if this'll have implications for their fanned fret guitars.

String theory : the material science of strings

Is the tension created by pushing down the string really that small? The modulus of elasticity of guitar strings tends to be very high (in the GPa range), and guitar strings generally don't have much of an extension compared to their natural length either way, so I'd assume small changes in the...

String theory : the material science of strings

Note that the action of the string gets higher as you move towards the bridge, meaning that there is an increased amount of tension on said string when you fret it on a higher fret. A higher tension increases the eigenfrequency of said string. I'd assume that the reason you might need more...

    Aristides Guitars

Have you guys seen that fretless model on Instagram? I wonder if this is an option we're going to see soon.

[NGD] My first seven-string (Ibanez RGIX7FDLB-NLB)

Agreed! I absolutely adore the white pickups. Agreed on her being hot! What don't you like about the bridge?

[NGD] My first seven-string (Ibanez RGIX7FDLB-NLB)

Hmm, they're different from the Tone Zone and Air Norton that I'm used to, that's for sure. I like them quite a bit. They sound crunchy with distortion, and I think they would lend themselves to clean tone prog quite well too.

[NGD] My first seven-string (Ibanez RGIX7FDLB-NLB)

I've been wanting to buy a seven-string for a while now, and I managed to strike a lucky deal at a local guitar store for one of the guitars I was interested in. I absolutely fell in love with this guitar's colour scheme when I first saw it, so I'm very happy that I managed to get it brand-new...

    Post Your GAS

I'll make sure to post plenty of them. It should arrive by tomorrow and I'm very stoked. Thanks man. Being Turkish, I know all too well how the prices can be over there sometimes.
