Nope. In fact my preference is to not even have a tone knob on my guitars. I need to move one of my strat tones so I can shunt the other tone and volume knob down a space because I HATE the location of strat volume pot. It always gets inadvertently rolled down while playing.
Yeah it’s been done plenty of times, Ola has a vid where he used a Boss Metal Zone pedal in to the FX return of an amp and basically using it as a pre-amp.
I prefer the 81 in the bridge position to be honest. The 85 works but I found it to be a bit too, I dunno, spongey maybe? I prefer a 24v mod over swapping 81 for an 85.
Yes they do custom neck specs. I ordered mine as a 22 fret instead of 24 with a heel mount truss rod with no issues. Pretty much all aspects can be discussed with Jan.
I've seen more than a few questions about Aviator Guitars on the forums and thought this info would be useful. ACG have come out with a semi-custom line called the Pilot Edition which has several of their most popular models in a more streamline configuration with more focused options vs their...
I will say that after getting my Aviator, I am 100% in favour of sacrificing 2 frets I never use for that magical neck pickup position, it sounds fucking gorgeous quite frankly. If I do the 7 string build, it will be a 22 fret on a 26.22" scale.
In fairness, no I dont think it would. As much I would like a Gibson (would love an Explorer) I just dont think Gibson's are right for me. The necks feel horribly chunky, the 2 LP's I had felt like baseball bats. Now I'm not sure if I've tried the 60's Slim Taper neck but I think the 2018/19 LP...
Counter to that, I've played dozens of Gibsons that were hot garbage considering the price they were asking. I've owned a few Gibsons, played plenty more and have never been impressed with them. For 30 years I've wanted to own one but the competition just does it way better, usually for less...
I'd be looking at ESP or PRS first and foremost, maybe a Patrick Eggle Macon if i was really spending. Ironically a Gibson would not even be a consideration for a SC style guitar.
After about a 9 month build time I finally have my Aviator Custom Fury. I thought I’d share the build as it’s been a great process and the finished guitar is very nice and the brand doesn’t get a whole lot of air time it seems. As a company, Aviator have been great to deal with, didn’t go more...
This is pretty much spot on. The same over-compressed, quantized plink-plonk stuff. Like nearly every "Virtuoso" player out there, I appreciate and respect the technical ability but the songs are incredibly un-interesting, perfect elevator music but 'To each his own'. GG is about the only...
A Tremol-No is good enough as a hardtail in my experience. I have one on my Caparison and it doesn't budge once locked. I check the lock screws when I do periodic servicing but I cant say as I've noticed them backing out. I'd say its bone stupid to replace a Trem guitar for a fixed if that is...
GAS will never go away and you're lying to yourself if you say it will. Disposable income is the obvious obstacle and as such my best advice ASSUMING YOU CAN COMFORTABLY AFFORD IT (never put gear above personal or family necessities) is to get the gear you're GASing for and thoroughly critique...
