I would love to see the costs of materials + labor + profit margin from a foreign made guitar and a USA made guitar from the same company. It would be too easy for me to say $500 without knowing all the costs involved.
One thing I noticed about the 1000 is that it is very heavy compared to all the other guitars I've tried out. It's like twice as heavy as my American strat.
I was >< close to just up an buying one of the 55 series online, but just couldn't do it without playing one first. No one carries the damn things, and there are very very few reviews for any of their guitars. You would think they would push them to any shop that carries their amps. GC and Best...
I would find it hard to believe they wouldn't allow him more freedom, unless it was some god awful ugly phallic design or something. The guy, and the band are absolutely huge right now.
When I saw this I was taken back to my high school days in the 80s. My first thought was 'lol look at this dbag. its that kid in high school everyone punched in the face for being a tony hawk poser whose parents bought him the best skategear that never got scratched' and then the commercial kept...
I've owned an M-10 which is basically the same thing but HH. Put in a jazz and jb. Love it so far. The tuners aren't smooth and pots are a bit cheap but otherwise I really like it. I've been looking for an upgrade and everything I've tried hasn't pulled me away from this thing yet.
I mostly just run through chords and scales getting the feel of the guitar. I don't bother with songs I know other than simple chord strumming progressions. I find it's enough to get to know the guitar without becoming that guy who plays some song so bad at such a loud volume that you want to go...
If this is the same Metallica book I saw in a used shop, it has no guitar tab. It's all standard notation. You're just going to have to do some serious googling, or pick up a book. It's probably something you will want to learn eventually anyways.
It's a step forward, but wouldn't the best solution eventually be quick connects all around? Where in the pickup hole you would have just a single connector that the pickup plugs into that routes back into the tone/volume area which is also then interconnected via quick connects...
