Hmm... Lately I love playing Movits - Fel del av Gården, and also Maskinen - Pengar. It's two Swedish songs... I love listening to them while showering : D Wakes me up and gets me pumped in the morning. Other times, eh, anything by Mastodon. Also most songs on Images and Words!
Marcus Miller is easily my favourite Jazz/Funk bassist. To paraphrase my friend: "He makes the bass sound like a bass is supposed to sound" I just remembered this awesome video of Miller playing his tune Scoop (solo) YouTube - Marcus Miller - Scoop
I'm studying journalism now... but I'm not sure if I'm going to finish my studies. Nearly failed the last exam because I spent too much time playing guitar and not enough time studying.
My last jolt of inspiration came after watching some videos of Johan Randén playing. He's a student of Mattias IA Eklundh who became known as a kind of wunderkind after playing "The Black Page" (ridiculous zappa tune) live at a swedish rock festival at the age of 12 or 13. Now he's 21 I think...
Haha, I didn't mean to start this big discussion. In my opinion, wheter you play good doesn't have much to do with knowing theory or not, you either have it or you don't. Theory is optional, personally I like it, I think it's interesting, but IMO you always have to rely on your ears first hand...
I'm listening to the incident right now, and my first impression is more positive than the last one. I really liked the songwriting on Fear of a blank planet, but for some reason I couldn't really dig the mix, but I like both parts on the new album so far.
I was at that meet and greet too. He signed my Pulp Fiction wallet ^^ (The one that says "Bad Motherfucker") But I was seriously dissapointed in the show... I have seen them the last three times they've visited Sweden now and I won't be seeing them again unless they: 1) Put out an album...
According to Wikipedia, his dad was the first democratically elected president in kenya iirc. Thats pretty cool. EDIT: No that was his uncle, his father was a guerilla.
I'm bad at sweeping, but It's not something I aspire to be really good at either so I guess it doesn't bother me to much :P Also practicing the same thing over and over for longer times beats me. (Starting slow, building up...)
Two girls studying at the dance program at my school danced in his video for "Vi sitter i Ventrilo och spelar Dota", they said he was a total ass. Plus his music sucks.
