    Picks Vs. Fingers

Oh my bad, seems like I forgot ignoring the laws of physics that actually means that different materials have different properties for sound. I apologize my good man.

    Picks Vs. Fingers

Yeah, it really blows my mind how people believe that different techniques have different impact on their sound and choose technique accordingly. Oh, mankind..

    Yasunori Mitsuda Appreciation

Both Nobuo and Yasunori are great composers and two of my favorites. Comparisation is futile!

    What are you listening to?

Various Artists – Brownswood Bubblers Four Compiled by Gilles Peterson A great album that I listen to anytime I just feel like filling my ears with something. A compilation of songs from different artists in some label, as I've understood it. Kafka Anthem is my favorite!

    Nobuo Uematsu appreciation thread!

Is there such a thread already? In that case now there's two, with good reason. A completely brilliant composer that completely revolutionizes my appreciation for music as good as every time I play any Final Fantasy game. Having grown up with Final Fantasy 7 there's also a lot of sentimental...

    Favorite bass brand?

For metal I'd say primarily Warwick and secondly Ibanez. For a not very modern sound I'm a sucker for a Hofner with flats(which I own, coincidence?), and for most other things I prefer a Fender. Jazz or precision. How about you guys?

    Jazz Bass appreciation thread!

The jazz bass is great. I've owned two Maruszczyk Elwoods, one 4string and one 5string. Great stuff.

Would you ever go back from 5/6/+ string to 4 string bass?

But of course, no matter how right it feels playing a 4string, when you suddenly can't fret even a low Eb your head will go boom.

Would you ever go back from 5/6/+ string to 4 string bass?

Although there isn't actually any rational reason for me to prefer four strings I sometimes do. I play a lot of different music, and sometimes a 4string just feels more right than a 5string. I own two basses; one Ibanez SR5 and one Hofner Club, and I wouldn't be able to choose which one I like...

    Effects/tone advice...

I use a Line6 Pod XT, which mostly works perfectly for my cup of distortion(I'm also a fan of mr. Dick's sound). But if you're sure about not getting a Line6 then i could recommend a MXR M80 Bass DI+. I used to own one, and although it wasn't as good as the line6 at getting a killer modern...

    Some bass advice wanted

I'd say it depends on what kind of basses you find and how big your need for a G-string is. If you like having the extra string whether you use actually use it in a band or not I think you should try to find a good and affordable 5string. It might seem like the extra string will get in your way...

    Picks Vs. Fingers

To me both styles has its' advantages. Personally I like to play with heavy yet defined distortion and I prefer the attack from playing with a pick. But with a non-distorted sound I kind of like the chug achieved from playing with fingers. I still play with a pick 99% of my metal time though.

    Show Me Your Bass!

As I am an utter failure when it comes to doing bothersome things, instead of uploading a picture of my bass to a site where I can link it here I'll just post a picture that's already available as a link and you'll get me as a pure bonus! It's a Ibanez SRsomething5 in a dark brown walnutisch...

Post your most "Metal" pic of yourself and your bass!!!

Not that there's actually a lot of pictures of me and my bass, but at least any picture is more metal than no picture. Actually I even found two somewhat metallic pics. Obviously.
