This may be too outside the box but I immediately thought of those concept Ibanez bass guitar hybrids. It won't be £300 but it's 30" scale 6 string bass with guitar string spacing (somewhat). Can only find the multiscale version on their site but they have made straight versions. I think...

Agree that this looks a lot better in the video. Sure there are things some people would prefer done slightly differently but this is a really cool guitar all in all

Fair point but surely they could still mask straight like this Jackson (that's also one cut instead of two) and have it look much neater instead of the V abomination. That said I still take issue with this, just follow the heel come on.
