Flat neck radius 6-string with floating trem

Hey, Emperor Guillotine - I actually just posted one other time in the 6-strings forum and the mods moved it. That was it, sorry about that. I wasn't sure where this belonged, hence two posts. But it looks like another user posted something like "please find me a dream guitar" which might be...

Flat neck radius 6-string with floating trem

Thanks, guys. I'll take a look at Doberman as well as the Music Man. I'm also going to see what it would take to retrofit a trem on a Carvin. There's got to be a way to make it all work to make that dream guitar a reality!

Flat radius 6-string with floating trem

Thanks, porknchili! Looking at the Ibanez one now. The one thing I forgot to mention on the "must-haves" list is jumbo frets (with stainless steel being a nice-to-have). From what I know the Music Man is medium jumbo, but perhaps I should play one to see how the frets feel. Regarding Carvin...

Flat neck radius 6-string with floating trem

Hi folks, I've posted this in the "Standard Guitars" forum, but thought I should post it here in case anyone knows luthiers or companies that can customize to what I'm looking for. I've been trying to look for a 6-string guitar with some of the following specs: - Flat neck radius 6-string...

Flat radius 6-string with floating trem

Hi folks, I've been trying to look for a 6-string guitar with some of the following specs: - Flat neck radius 6-string guitar (ideally 20" radius, but 16-17" might be OK too, and preferably not a compound radius). - Floyd Rose or equivalent floating tremolo. - Only bridge and neck...

    Beginning to enjoy slow practice

Hi guys, Just thought I'd share some of my recent experiences with slow practice - going back to basics. I've been playing guitar for a while, and while I suppose I was an alright intermediate player, I never pushed myself to the next level. "Practice" sessions used to basically end up as...

Looking for feedback on my composition

Thanks a bunch, fellas! All this feedback is of immense value to me. I really appreciate it. Tyler - I'm going to start looking at Ermin Hamidovic's "Systematic Mixing Guide" for my drum mixing. Everyone seems to swear by it, Interesting to hear your takes on the dissonant "solo". I tend...

Looking for feedback on my composition

Wow, dude! Thanks for the kind words. Very encouraging. I'll keep plugging away and getting better. I've actually quit playing in a band somewhat recently to focus more on developing my DIY style and skills, but once I feel comfortable with where I'm at, I'll definitely be looking to...

Looking for feedback on my composition

Hi folks, I'm just getting into the "DIY" musician thing where I'm writing and performing (and programming) all parts. This one is my first real attempt, so I'd love your feedback on the composition, and as a listener what you think works well, what might be missing, etc. Bonus points if you...

Newbie's first real groove metal mix - looking for feedback

Oh no, no! Sorry, I should have explained better. I meant masters of other bands that I enjoy. I just burned the songs from their CDs onto my hard drive and imported them into my mastering session in Logic. The four tracks I used were: "Blackest Eyes" by Porcupine Tree, "Check My Brain" by Alice...

Newbie's first real groove metal mix - looking for feedback

Oh, and I guess I should mention that I compressed the 0-150Hz range to tighten it up, and ran some stereo widener plugins on the higher frequency buses (like 4k+ or so).

Newbie's first real groove metal mix - looking for feedback

Ah, thanks dude! That's nice to hear, and a good confidence booster. I'll keep plugging away. Fair play regarding the guitars. I've listened to this stuff ad nauseum, so I probably don't hear it, which is exactly why I'm looking for this kind of feedback from fresh ears. I'll see if anyone else...

Newbie's first real groove metal mix - looking for feedback

Hi guys, I've been dabbling with writing and producing my own stuff after being heavily inspired by the new wave of DIY musicians. Here's my first proper composition and mix. I'd love your feedback! https://soundcloud.com/xxporcupinextreexx/sir-alexander-platypus-2-0 Cheers! :hbang:

    Derryl Gabel Fretboard Intensive Training

Bumping an old thread. I'm interested in purchasing this DVD. Anyone have any reviews on it? Among all of Derryl Gabel's DVDs, this one seems to be the most holistic one I suppose - i.e. not specific to one area such as legato, or sweeping or something. I want to take it nice and slow and get...

Per Nilsson's Scar Guitar Instructional DVD

Hey guys - at what expertise level do you recommend one to be at before purchasing Per's DVD? I'm not a beginner or anything, but I'm not quite at "shred" level. Is this something that's better suited to someone who's already able to shed above speeds of around 140bpm, or is this rudimentary...

Computer noises carried through USB cable to soundcard and speakers

Alright guys, looks like no one had a solution. But I found this little gadget online which I was able to purchase from Amazon: Ebtech - Audio Solutions Plugged my iMac into it, plugged it into the power outlet, and no more computer noises. So definitely a ground loop issue. I have Apple...
