Whoa, Joey Allen had EVERYTHING back then. As for the truss rod, I don't think this is a problem since the rod itself is encased in some sort of rectangular tube. It's the same construction as used in this guitar (that I yet have to present. :D)
The route is extra small because it is done in two parts; for the block and for the arm holder: The spring cavity is the same width as the neck centerpiece. The nut is made by Kahler (I think it's out of production today???) and it has an integrated string retainer and slightly...
Hi all, I posted a picture of myself playing live in another thread and was asked to show more pictures of the guitar I was using at that gig. So here it is - a custom 6-string built by the German luthier Rainer Tausch. The body shape resembles shapes like Ibanez RG, Jackson Soloist...
The pots are standard and not push/pull. I guess the top is quite thin and they didn't bother putting extra washers between the pot body and the wood. Also I'm not sure if the bridge humbucker can be split at all, the blade switch is a 3-way.
Hi folks, although I'm a superstrat guy through and through, I just couldn't say no to this one - a 1988 Ibanez Artfield AFD5. More precisely, it's an AFD5SPAM-Z. It's funny how that spells (Monty Python comes to my mind ), but the AM stands for Amber finish and the SP is featured in the...
Hi folks, a long time ago when the 1988 Ibanez catalog fell into my hands, the Artstar series with their semi-acoustic construction caught my eye, most of all the Strat-orientated AL100. I did some research but couldn't find out much more than "these are rare beasts". As far as I know the AL100...
That's an incredible collection of Warmoth beauties - I stand in awe. The coolest thing is that you went for NO INLAYS! That's five bonus points on the awesome-o-meter. :D
It's a matter of taste. Me personally, I would rather go for a recessed bridge and a low string height above the body because it kinda feels better for my right hand.
In principle yes, but the replacement knife edges for EDGE or Lo-Pro EDGE are long out of stock at Rich's and they're discontinued by Ibanez/Hoshino. And if you succeed in finding a knife edge set, it is extremely difficult to get the old ones out of the base plate! I once did it and it was a...
This is only true if the the customer does not go too wild with the custom options on a Ran. Sometimes it's just the neck dimensions (radius, width, profile) built specifically for the original owner can be a huge turn-off for others and, in consequence, bring down the resale value.
This is definitely one of the darkest ATDs I have ever seen. It looks absolutely awesome, congratulations! Would you mind showing us pictures of the back?
Whoa, I love that finish and the scallopped neck gives it an extra shredding kick. HNGD! What's with the electrical tape behind the nut? Is it to kill drone resonance from the strings? And how come there is no retainer bar between the tuners and the nut?
First of all: HNGD! I love the optics and I have heard great things about the Caparison build quality, but I have a question: The string height above the body (i.e. distance between body surface and strings) appears to be very high. Also the neck seems to have a significant angle. The question...
