    Kiesel Multiscale Aries

On a similar note, what options are there for pickup replacement? The routes are shaped like parallelograms. What pickup manufacturers accommodate that?

    Filing the nut

Thanks for the first-hand account. I'm not sure it's really worth investing in proper tools or really learning a proper technique right now. I only get new guitars once every 2-3 years, so maybe paying a tech is smarter. If this does a satisfactory job, it may be worth a shot. Did this...

    Filing the nut

I noticed my old RG7321 has a noticeable distance between most of the strings and the 1st fret. The neck seems to have a proper bow (I fret the 1st & 21st frets, and the strings have an index card thickness of relief), and the string saddles aren't high. So, I think the nut should be filed a...

    Kiesel Aries (New model)

I like it. Sure, the horns could be a little pointier for my taste (less banana-like) and make some attempt to gel with the headstock, but it hits several of my likes. Bevels. I place a premium on comfort. A bevel would eliminate some of my bitching about ergonomics. I agree the offset...

    Drop A Correct string tension

    There's nothing I can add to the advice above, but I crunched some numbers in case you're interested. First, the tensions of strings 1-6... len 26.5" E .010" PL == 17.51# B, .013" PL == 16.61# G, .017" PL == 17.89# D, .026" NW == 19.88# A,, .036" NW == 21.1# E,, .046" NW == 18.88#...

Tony MacAlpine & Jeff Loomis sheddy-duel @ EMGTV

That may not have come out the way you intended. But really, I don't think anyone else was commenting on her skills. Just that her tone was really good. And that Tony and Jeff are listed in the titles of the thread and youtube video. Only two guitarists play for nearly the...

Tony MacAlpine & Jeff Loomis sheddy-duel @ EMGTV

It's cool that so many folks like Nili's tone. Didn't notice it so much before, but it's really nice...well-suited for rhythm. Jeff and his tone made me want to be a rock star. Tony's playing also stood out. It seemed so dang smooth and effortless. And it's a nice extra bonus for EMG (and...

Rumor - Megadeth completed their line-up

It says they're already in the studio to record. Does that guarantee that Kiko will have little to no influence on the album? Unless he quickly comes up with his own solos or something? I'm not really familiar with studio recording, but I get the impression Dave just handed him a script and a...

NGD Carvin Bolt (along with a few questions)

Looks beautiful. I like the simple, slightly snazzy look with the pickguard, and the way the headstock goes well with the body shape. It's nice to see an older Carvin on here, and a bolt-on at that.

    Carvin Vader

I'm sure you find your socioeconomic analysis brilliant and ethical. But please keep it off this thread. "Correct"? Perhaps it is what you would like, or perhaps it is a more accurate price with no profit or cushion. Correctness has nothing to do with it.

    Schecter KM6 or LTD Mh1000ET

So far, the KM-6 is clearly winning. Could you explain what it is about the evertune that you like, and how important it is to you? Without understanding that, folks may end up voting for what *they* want.

    Carvin Vader

I've wondered the same thing. It makes no sense to use with your strap unless you like the neck pointing at the ground. However, according to the item description... I still don't know how this works with a common guitar stand having 2 pegs to support the body and a C-shaped neck holder.

    Carvin Vader

So, would there be any additional benefit to having a 5-piece neck on a 27" scale? Or does that become redundant with carbon fiber reinforcement?

    Headless Carvin 8 String Incoming?

I was hoping against a symmetrical, rounded rear end* appearance like the HH and older Steinbergers have. But I can also imagine single scale lends itself most readily to symmetry, and anything pointier could be risky for a new model. On the plus side, maybe this is easier to place in a common...

    Headless Carvin 8 String Incoming?

On that note, is it at all significant that the logo is "Kiesel" instead of "Carvin", and that "Kiesel" is written in large letters in the upper right? I do expect NGD subject lines to be filled with Star Wars references now. And I can only imagine the temptation for Jeff to market it with...

    Headless Carvin 8 String Incoming?

Yep, that'd make sense. It seems fitting for "Vader" to be kind of big and bad whatever the number of strings. 27" already works in that way for 8 and 7 strings, but it would really make the 6 string stand out. That, and maybe it would keep production simple with one scale.
