The RGIR27FE was my first 7 (still my only 7 at the moment). Really like the guitar, but didn't like the stock string gauges at all. I like medium tension, and for me they weren't even good for standard tuning. So it depends on what kind of tension you like, really.
Wasn't a fan of reggae by choice. But it's all my fiance listens to, and it just started to grow on me. Really like bands like Rebelution, Tribal Seeds, Mike Pinto Band, B-Side Players, Fear Nuttin Band, Rootz Underground, SOJA.
I replaced my 707 with the 81-7 and did the 18v mod. Night and day difference. I have an Iron label 6 and 7. The frets on the 7 were pretty much perfect. The 6 on the other hand had some sharp ends and needed some minor leveling here and there. But with some easy to find tools and about...

An attenuator may be a better option. But the MXR in the loop of my amp still allows play with my master turned up to 2-3 instead of 1-1.5. And when I turn the volume control back up on the MXR, I notice no difference in tone, only volume.
:agreed: It has nothing to do with low volume, but I would also change out the speaker and tubes asap as well. I swapped the speaker for a WGS HM75, and put TAD 6L6GC-STR power tubes and Electro-Harmonix 12AX7 preamp's and the amp sounds 10x better now. Way more useable mid range and the...
Regardless of any statistics, there are a lot of sick people in this world. And a lot of them get enjoyment out of hurting others for no good reason. I really don't think there's anything wrong with preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. My friends 75 year old grandmother was just...
This seems to be my biggest problem. I don't have too much trouble writing catchy sounding riffs. But putting them together to form a song is something I always struggle with. Only been playing for a little over a year though, so I take it for what it is and continue practicing.
Hal Leonard Fretboard Mastery is really good. I'm still slowly working my way through it. Hal Leonard Fretboard Mastery Book with CD: Troy Stetina: 9780793597895: Amazon.com: Books
Just put 2 TAD 6L6GC-STR power tubes and a WGS HM75 speaker in mine. Made the tone a little darker and the bass response WAY better. Huge improvement overall. Definitely not a light amp by any means, but still manageable.
Sunrise standard 3mm master finish is my favorite. Got a v-pick screamer the other day, and it's really nice too. Has a little more punch and a slightly smoother attack than the Sunrise. Could probably get the same sound out of a polished 3mm Sunrise though.
On my Ibanez 25.5" scale the Elixir skinny top, heavy bottom set, plus an Elixir .068 was perfect tension for me in drop A. Just depends on how much tension you like though.
