I also bought this guitar due to my love of metallica (The previous owner even put the cool middle finger fret marker covers on the neck that James had on his custom. Vinyl stickers sure, but look damn cool), and a similar story. Saw the thing staring at me at a pawnshop. Talked them down to...
Listening to your explanation of this beauty I'm reminded of the line from American Psycho "Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh, my God. It even has a watermark." Of course this doesn't have a water mark haha. Sweet find there.
Awesome to see a BJJ thread here. I've been training since 08 and received my Brown Belt through my professor under Sylvio Behring. Sorry to hear about the groin strain, but congrats on the blue belt.
I bought one of the original series w/ the Orange/red/green when it had come out. Great guitar. It appears they resolved a couple issues by not going w/ the edge III (which I ended up pulling out and putting in a low end floyd. (Say what you will but I prefer it's playbility now over the edge...
Have you looked up the serial number or forwarded to Fender to confirm the serial number? If not I would try to get in contact w/ Fender to see if they can confirm it.
"Cosmetic Issues?" Naw man, that guitar just has a lil more character than others haha. Seriously awesome guitar though, with a great story behind it. HNGD!!
I really wish that Dean would've been able to go w/ the original headstock design, instead of that Dean straight 6 setup. Other than that though, truly sweet ax there.
My God!! I have the same model except it's the 42E w/ the EMGs. After seeing whats hiding under that paint, I'm tempted to undertake this same project. Absolutely stunning job there.
I had just joined a band and they were really jazzed on my ability, not the best player but better than their previous lead guitarist. As we were setting up the lead singer was telling the crowd about how great this new guitarist was and needless to say I was pretty stoked to be playing live...
I recently purchased a used RGA42E with EMGs because I wanted a non trem guitar for ease of access tuning and it has become one of my favorite/go to guitars to play. A real shame if Ibanez has dropped the RGA series, because it is one of the most comfortable guitars I've ever played and makes me...
2 stories. 1st isn't really a horror story just one I find a bit funny. I was at a show about 4 years ago Anthrax and Rob Zombie. Figured I'd check one of the Big 4 off my concert list. During Anthrax's set (Caught in a Mosh) I lost a shoe in the middle of the pit. Luckily it was a bunch of 40...
