It's kinda general, my dislike for bolt-ons. I usually dislike it when it hits my hand as I go up the fretboard. So, Jackson, Fender, Squire, Ibanez, so on. I am perfectly fine with the way PRS and Kiesel/Carvin do it, but not enough other brands do it that way.
Greetings, all! I've had a PRS SE semi-hollow for about nine years now, and it's sounding like it's at about the end of its life. (Neck issues, would probably cost more to fix than to buy a new guitar and swap the electronics and other parts.) So, given that I love the warm tone you can...
Well explained, thanks very much! So, I guess a diode if just used normally, would cut out half the signal? That would be an interesting sound.... Not particularly appealing though, I owuld imagine.
Hey all. I've been looking at videos on Youtube lately about tone/treble bleed caps, being put on volume potentiometers for a fairly obvious reason. And I've also watched videos demonstrating why people shouldn't put these bleed caps on more than one volume pot in the same guitar. What I...
But I'm not settling for a solid body? The only brand I'm aware of that makes decent semi-hollows is PRS, and they just aren't quite what I want. SE has a fixed bridge and 22 frets and korean hardware, the S2 has a cruddy uneven bevelling and foreign parts, along with only 22 frets, and the...
I actually do play unplugged a lot lol. Also leads me to wonder, how do you think bloodwood would work as a top on a semi-hollow? I have heard too few videos of bloodwood guitars, acoustic or electric.
While I do appreciate the physics information, I'm ultimately going for a particular sound. Endless sustain (though theoretical and difficult to perform with gravity, and an atmosphere surrounding the strings) is seldom actually desired--only time it's really used, is with either feedback, an...
Well I mean, my DREAM guitar is pretty much a midi instrument that tracks way better than any actual midi instrument does, and has a much better sound, instantaneous response time, and so on. But realistically, for a guitar that sounds like it actually sounds, this is what I'm trying to...
In short, my preferred brand is generally PRS. I've got an SE Custom Semi-hollow (2007), that I am rather fond of. However, I am ultimately trying to build a guitar that has a sound I prefer, a tremolo, a slightly different neck profile to fit my hands. (the semi-hollow has thick mahogany...
Hey all. Today, I'm posting with a question or two for you all, in regards to what woods would suit my desires, as well as distinct lack of certain practices (certain woods for certain things.) First question being, why in the world does no one make a thin mahogany neck? (None of which I'm...
Blend pots exist already, but I'm referring to putting a blade version of a blend pot into a guitar, and whether or not they exist. And for the explanation of how blend pots work... Essentially, they're two pots in one. Each pickup is wired to a separate one (they're stacked), and the...
Anyone know if these exist? I think it would be a great idea to swap out the typical 5 position blades with a blend, and just add a couple switches or push/pull pots for the coil tap and series/parallel if that sound is desired. (I actually put a blend pot on a PRS SE semi-hollow of mine...
Alright, thanks! I do really appreciate the help. Truthfully, the guitar has Black Winters in it ^_^; I'm not too likely to switch to active any time soon. (And interestingly, Black Winters in a semi-hollow sound REALLY good. Very smooth, very rich.)
Hey guys, just wanted to know if it was possible to do two tone bleed mods, one per pickup, on a blend pot. I've heard word about tone suckage, when it was done to more than one pickup/volume pot, and wanted to know if that still applied to a blend pot.
It's probably a noteworthy tidbit, that my left hand was crushed and I had to have my metacarpals reconstructed. I can already stretch out my hand well enough to play intricate parts on a PRS, but 25.5 is a step too far. Especially when I'm covering any of the solos that Obscura has on...
