Honestly, I can't say. The only time it's been an issue is when I used the "Big Bottom" model on my Vetta amp. It makes the perfect Meshuggah tone, but the attack was too scratchy. However, I was working on what I call the Time-sig-DaVinci-Code (Meshuggah's "Bleed") again recently and the...
Right on Aghasura! Very nice review. I'm always glad when someone else likes my picks. I've tried (in the interest of progress) to switch picks a number of times. Didn't happen. I keep going back to mine. As for the scratchiness when used on the low strings; That took some adjustment. I rarely...
The tech at Fernandes tells me that the 6 string version from that time; the Revolver Pro, had the same Sustainer unit in it. The driver size was the only difference. So, anyone with that guitar could also save my sanity :wallbash: I tried to rewire it from the info I could get from the...
I'm installing the Sustainer unit from my old Revolver Pro 7, into my '91 Universe. The problem is; in the years since I disassembled it, I have lost the diagram I drew up  The system they used on the 7 is different from the other ones they've used. It has 3 knobs (one is a push/push), 1...
These new picks were made in response to a request by TomAwesome. This picture shows the new shape next to the Jazz III shape pick, for size reference. These are made from the same .51mm, stainless steel stock as my Jazz III shape picks. These picks are full size, (standard plectrum)...
The Starbucks by Raley's. I know it well. I can walk there in about 15 minutes. They've spent the last year fixing the North Texas offramp and overpass. It's still a cluster... right now, but it should be much better soon. They call it progress... HA! We like it here though. Take care. SS
Travis? Cool. We're on the west side of the freeway at the northernmost Fairfield exit (North Texas). We're up against the "open spaces" hills. We love this part of town. How long ago were you here?
They're done! :hbang: They turned out better than I'd anticipated. There are only 34 of them. I'll make a separate post for this specific shape, in this same forum. Contact me for info. SS
Cool! I ordered the steel last night. Will be here in a couple of days. Picks will be ready to ship by next Monday (at the latest). They will be standard plectrum size with the sharp point of my other picks. The holes will be more centered on the body of the pick, as opposed to close to the...
Excellent! I've been using stainless steel strings since the 80s, so I don't notice the wear at all. I'd suggest trying Ernie Ball Custom Stainless strings. I use the .009 thru .046, with an added .056 on the low B. They last until I just want to change 'em. SS
Absolutely. Free shipping for as many as you want. I give discounts for more than 2 picks. My email (and PayPal address) is rooster@stevesorrell.com. This way, there's no shipping charges (unlike Ebay). Thanks. SS I too was concerned about the thickness, but got over that very quickly...
Very good review :yesway: Thanks. I try to leave the holes a bit rough for that very reason. I find the grip to be better than the first ones I made, that were really smooth. As for the overtones; that's why some players don't dig steel picks. I'm so used to it that I really don't even...
I believe that Dunlop Jazz IIIs are 1.38mm. My picks are .51mm. Stainless Steel doesn't need thickness to achieve total rigidity. These allow the stiffness without the drag of a thick nylon pick. It takes very little pick-travel to clear the string with my picks. When I have tried a Jazz III...
I'm sorry. No. These are the only style I make. They take SOOOO long to make that special orders would be crazy-expensive. I was a fan of thick picks before starting to use these. I now find thick picks awkward. But, that's just me. Thanks though. SS
Right On!!!:hbang: That's great! I'm so glad to hear that. I was hesitant to say it, but they actually improved my picking technique. They allow you to be more economical with your pick-strokes. Thanks again.:metal: SS
