After talking with Rich, I decided to refurbish my Lo Pro Edge 7 trems. The ZR trem won't work for me. Reading his tech section was amazing. So, for about $80 in parts (and some spare stuff), I'll have both trems running better than new. Someday, a locking, fulcrum-style, ball bearing, 7...
Ummm...Maybe I'm slow...I just checked private messages and I don't see one with a link. I am kinda new to this forum, so maybe I'm missing something. Sounds like you may have a lead for me though! COOL! SS
Damn! Sounds like a real prick. His parts guy was honest, however. He said "No. I can only get those to replace an existing one". So, no dice. I'll keep looking. Somebody must make one. SS
Hmmm... I've never met the man, nor have I had any dealings with him. If I ever meet him though, I just hope I don't have any kittens with me. So, what's the deal with Ed? I mean, aside from eating kittens, that is. SS
Very nice! Looks like a very high quality trem. I should have said "Locking" trem though. I'm a real sucker for fine tuners. I had a guitar with a Khaler (many moons ago). I never liked the feel of them. I missed the long flutter time of the Floyd. Thank you. SS Cool! I have a call...
Has anyone found an aftermarket source for a 7 string ball-bearing (as opposed to knife-edge) tremolo. Over the last 7 years, I've become so disgusted by knife-edge trems that I've blocked all my 7s off and just use the locking nut and fine tuners. I still have a first-year JEM777 (6 string)...
Do you know where the guitar is made? I know the ones made in the US are much more expensive. I can't seem to find where the "import models" are built. It's an awesome guitar. :hbang: SS
My camera sucks monkey dicks! I tried to do close ups, but they were really bad. I'll add some more tomorrow, when I have time to mess with lighting a bit. SRS
Thanks. It was a lot of fun. The thought of trying to make a neck or a proper neck joint raises my blood pressure, so this was the best way for me to go. Next time I'll make the whole body. I ended up completely changing the neck joint anyway, so why the hell not? SRS
Aha! Good eye. :yesway: That's exactly what I did. I disassembled and surface-mounted the trem right to the body. Adjusting it was the really tricky part. I used 1 inch stainless steel washers to bring it up 1/8 of an inch, to the right height. Then I used .5 mm brass shims and raised each...
Thanks for the warning. This is just for me, so I'm not worried about the name thing. I call it the Raven because of the raven's beak image I used to design the upper and lower horns. All the pics I have are at the Photobucket link on the original post. There are 18 in all. I didn't wanna go...
It was a 1 hour old Washburn WG-587. I bought it just so I could cut it up. I needed a starter neck and a neck joint. Sounds big as hell! It already has better sustain than my Ibanez 7620s. It came into intonation amazingly well The saddles are closer to a straight line than I've ever seen...
7 long days, and it's done!!! It's called The Raven 7. WOO HOO!!! I've been designing this for weeks and finally began the building process last week. I've never taken on such a big project before. It was SOOOO worth it! Here's the link to the whole project slideshow. It's only 18...
It's a damn good guitar, especially for the money. You may want to have a local luthier dress the frets on it. It won't cost much and that's usually all those guitars are missing. They're so easy to set up, and then once your frets are polished it'll play great! For the price, you really...
That was exciting for a minute! It doesn't have fine tuners though. Only adjustments for intonation. It's pretty cool though. They even have a version with piezos in the saddles. D Guitar Parts: Locking Tremolo SRS
I still don't understand why 7 string guitars and guitar parts didn't catch on...more than they did. I've been hopelessly addicted since I played/bought my first Universe in '92. It amazes me how so many guitarists are afraid to stretch out and open their minds. Sorry, I veered off topic...
