    NEW SONG IDEA (PLEASE RATE)

cba to update, don't want to pay anyway (I'm on a bit of a shoestring at the moment myself). Yeah the music shop here sucks, I have to drive through to Cape Town if I want anything (but the real expensive stuff I usually buy from Music Connection). I'll definitely keep Tom's Music in mind, I...

    NEW SONG IDEA (PLEASE RATE)

I feel ya, man. Just be happy that you live in JHB and not the Cape... Stuff is even more expensive here. Go to Music Connection if you need gear, their prices are great (and I think they deliver for free in JHB). File won't open for me: "To open this file, please update your Guitar Pro...

    Bulb/periphery tabs?

Man, I wish someone had me a tab for some of Bulb's sketches... like Füf.

    Dissonant chords?

I arrived at it a different way, though - I approached it as a modified 7#9. Whereas the Hendrix chord has a funky/bluesy sound to it due to the flat 7, this version gives it a sharper sound and emphasises the major side of the major-minor equation. So there's another way to do this kind of...

    Dissonant chords?

Shouldn't that be e-8 B-6 G-6 D-5 A-7 E-5 ? Anyway, yeah, love the clash of a major and minor third in the same chord. a la e-(0)- B--8-- G--8-- D--6-- A--7-- E-(0)- which is also great because it's got the major 7 clashing with the minor 3.

    Un-metal un-7er here

Toby Driver is a freaking god, man. A friend of mine has been vacationing in the States for the past few weeks, and he got to see Driver play live... Man, I envy him. In fact Kayo Dot is so mind-blowingly amazing that I haven't even really listened to Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue, or the...

I'm new to this, so this is probably a dumb question.

So, you mean like you would write a piece in C major, using only the notes from that scale, but building chords like C E F A B? I can see how that would lead to a really interesting kind of sound. Also I actually have The Rite of Spring but I haven't listened to it yet... bad of me. And of...

Wait, explain that a bit more slowly?

    Dissonant chords?

This is called a "unison bend". This is called "beating". The second way (ie lower note on the third string) is much easier and more practical to do. Generally, unison bends are used more as a lead effect than as a chord... And I actually do think they could be used to great effect in rhythm...

    Un-metal un-7er here

So really, I'm mostly here because I expect to find a community dedicated to and inspired by: 1) new and interesting ways of making music; 2) advanced instrumental technique; and 3) brutal djent. :D I'm from South Africa, and no I do not live in a mud hut with my pet giraffe. I'm a 20-year-old...
