Are you wearing shoes when drumming ?

I've never worn shoes when drumming. Every pair/brand/style etc etc yields different results in terms of technique, dynamics, and so on. I play barefoot simply because I can attain and maintain a consistent means of playing heel up or heel down. I don't need to worry about a specific shoe style...

    SS Love and Relationships Thread

Personally I really enjoy being single, not from a fuck anything that walks/ one night stand seven nights a week perspective. I'm more interested/akin to simply living my life and striving to reach some goals. Besides women and logic are like oil and water, the two just don't mix [same can be...

I'm a lefty both with hands and legs! What should I do?

I'm left handed and I learned how to play on a right handed setup for a few reasons. 1.) learn to lead with my weak/off hand/foot initially, and tackle that challenge from the get go 2.) Leading with the left/whichever is your off hand provides grooves/fills/etc etc that are typically "off" the...

    NBA Thread

Blake Griffin, enough said. Yeah the Clippers are really struggling in the W/L dept [have been ever since I can remember, with the exception of a few seasons ago], but Eric Gordon and Blake Griffin are up and coming no doubt. Griffin is going to go dunk the ball one night and jump over the hoop...

New 8 string pickups (metal sounding)

If you're looking to go passive I suggest Lundgren pickups [although they are insanely expensive, $235.00 a piece], Bareknuckle pickups out of the UK are nice as well [still pricey but less expensive then the Lundgrens. Plus you have more of a selection with BKP]. Lundgrens are the pickups that...

Proof that metal makes everything sound better

I'm not much of a Lady GaGa fan, but I will give credit where it is due. She is a very talented pianist, however she should try and find her own identity in music rather than rehash Ace of Base and Madonna.

Obscura/ex-Necrophagist drummer Hannes Grossman to release instructional DVD.

After Grossman departed Muhammed recruited a living legend in the world of drums and percussion for Summer Slaughter 2007, Marco Minnemann. After Minnemann departed to pursue his own musical endeavors the group crossed paths with Romain Goulon, a french death metal powerhouse who is able to play...

RGA8 discussion. All input/comments/ideas is encouraged.

Mr Coffee I highly recommend the RGA8. It's unfortunate that Ibanez didn't spend more time developing this guitar into what it could/should be [same goes for the RG2228 imo] but they're on the right track. 2011 looks to be very promising for Ibanez ERGs [I'm sure Rondo/Agile has something up...

Michigan metal fans - Who's going to Periphery AND AAL this weekend?

I was at the Darkest Hour, Veil Of Maya, Periphery show last night and I will be in attendance for Animals As Leaders. Good times, good times indeed.

Obscura/ex-Necrophagist drummer Hannes Grossman to release instructional DVD.

"Progressive Concepts for the Modern Metal Drummer." courtesy of Mr. Hannes Grossman Obscura just finished tracking their next release "Omnivium", and with the entire process still fresh in his mind he felt like creating an instructional DVD. It will entail various chapters about hand/foot...

RGA8 discussion. All input/comments/ideas is encouraged.

I've learned a considerable amount of info from this thread :yesway: Looks like I have quite a bit of work ahead of me, and I welcome it with open arms. I've been looking for a Luthier with a solid reputation in the Metro Detroit area. On a side note, does anyone use DR Tite Fit strings with...

    Practice drum sets

If you want to get into drumming I would say find yourself two phone books, a drum throne, a pillow, a metronome, and a lot of time by yourself away from distractions. Take the phone books and put them in your armpits [this method is a surefire way to improve chops and endurance], position your...

RGA8 discussion. All input/comments/ideas is encouraged.

You bring up a very valid point. That has crossed my mind many times over, even re-drilling the hole for that screw has entered my thought process a few times. It all comes down to curiosity; well if I do this it will yield that type of result etc. etc. I noticed one guy even built a completely...

RGA8 discussion. All input/comments/ideas is encouraged.

I've spent the last two decades drumming, and at the end of June 2010 I purchased an RGA8. Does anybody know the cutoff b/t the first and second generations? I still have to swap out the pups [I have soldering experience, but I've never worked on a guitar]. I plan on purchasing a set of Lundgren...

    Pick-up Advice

Lundgren M6. I know they're expensive but the M6, M7, and M8 are the best pickups on the planet if you ask me. Not to take anything away from Bareknuckle, I've always liked what they have to offer. But I'd install a set of the M6s in that axe if I were you.:shred:

Anyone tried using a Fat Boost of some kind with an 8 string?

Just curious. If not I'll probably pick up an HBE Power Screamer with Fat Boost or a Fulltone Fat Boost 3. I just ordered a 2 x 12 Texas Dragon [Eminence Man O War + Legend V128] from the cab master himself, Kevin Phillips a.k.a Texas Dragon. So I'm just brainstorming/inquiring to see whether or...

EMG 808 vs. Lundgren M8 vs. Bare Knuckle 8-string

No problem. Glad I could offer some insight, and I hope you enjoy the Ibby as much as I do.

EMG 808 vs. Lundgren M8 vs. Bare Knuckle 8-string

Lundgren model M8 all the way. I own an RGA8 and am on the fringes of being able to afford a bridge and neck pup. I'd suggest looking into replacing the mid scoop toggle switch as well. After five minutes of playing it when I first got it [July 2010] I just left it off from that point on. Even...
