I have always used real amps live, but almost exclusively used modellers when recording. I have recently started recording my 6505+ direct with RedWirez cabinet impulses and the difference is night and day. Digital can get great tones but they lack the fullness of a real tube amp, there's much...
Yeah getting a matched quad for the power tubes no doubt, but thinking of mixing tung-sol and EHX preamp tubes I hear a gold pin EHX in the PI is good. The main thing i'm trying to do is change my preamp gain tone.
Hey guys first thread here so I don't know if there's some kind of dedicated thread I should be posting in but here goes. I have a 6505+ which i've owned for a few years now and still has the original Ruby 6L6s in it. I'm looking to get a new set of power tubes and also some new preamp tubes. I...
If you plugged a cable from the speaker out into a PA that burning is probably your Output transformer. Time for a new amp... Your amp needs to have the correct load connected to it (guitar speaker cabinet) at all times during operation Moral of the story; never do something unless you know...
I own a 6505+ and an Armageddon, and I like the Armageddon better in the studio but the 6505+ better on stage. The Armageddon isn't as saturated as the Peavey and doesn't have as much gain as you'd expect. It's also not super tight like the Peavey, I always run a OD in front, but it's...
You're not going to get anything good for $50 unless you find something used. It really depends on what you need it for as well. If you're just tracking guitars one at a time i'd recommend a one or 2 input interface. PreSonus, TC Electronic, Focusrite, M-Audio all make nice cheap interfaces, I'm...
If you keep a copy of your cabinet loader and impulse files on a usb stick, then save your settings as a preset and put that file on there too you can load it on your friend's pc easily. I do that between my pc and laptop. The Torpedo gear is great but far more expensive and honestly overkill...
What do you mean? Most studios will have impulse files, and if you talk to them i'm sure they'll allow you to bring your impulses with you on a usb drive to use
Palmer PDI-03. I recently got one for my studio and it's amazing. It's a well renowned unit in the music world. Rack mountable with a high quality flexible built in cab simulation, and a clean line out so you can use impulses on your computer for recording too.
