Thanks for the feedback! I'll admit, mixing is not my strong suit. I'm getting there, but I've still got a long way to go. In regards to the drums being really in your face, I completely agree and have received similar feedback. The snare in particular is very prevalent. For drum compression, I...
Hey guys & gals! So I have posted the finished instrumentals to RIVOLTA, the debut album of my solo project, The Light Eternal (link below). I will be going into the studio within the next month to start tracking vocals. There are currently two songs that include vocals - Make Then Your...
The "overly auto-tuned" pitch correction was intentional, although I do agree, it is a bit much. I was really going for a heavily-processed theme for the intro vocals. Since the rest of the vocal mix isn't in there yet, it's difficult to emphasize that. But yeah, I've been hearing that criticism...
Wow, sick tone. Surprisingly dynamic. And for the record, I just fncking love that signature Bulb SD2.0 snare. Even on short clips like this one, I seriously think it rivals 99% of the live kit snares I hear.
Haha thanks man! Yeah I've been a vocalist in all my previous bands and The Light Eternal is my first solo project. Ironically enough I've been recording instrumentals for all my songs and vocals have just been the last part of the process. They also take the most time (aside from programming...
Thanks guys! Looking forward to updating with vocals to the rest of the song. I've got a rough mix that I'm not really happy with right now, but I'll be updating soon, for sure.
Thank you! That is definitely a priority and I'll be posting the full demo soon. In the meantime feel free to check out my soundcloud for a look at things to come (enter shameless self promotion): https://soundcloud.com/the-light-eternal :shred:
Thanks for the praise. I was actually going for an "over-produced" approach to the intro vocals, so the heavy auto-tuning was intentional. The verse vocals and rest of the song won't really have such a heavy dose of auto-tuning. In regards to my voice, I guess either you'll dig it or you won't...
Thanks! If you're referring to the end/outro when you say the vocals are buried, they are wayyy back in the mix at that point in the song. If you're talking about the intro, then I just chalk it up to it being my first vocal mix!
This is my very first self-produced vocal attempt ever. There is only about 20 seconds worth of vox, if that. Then there is a lil bit moar at the ends. The vocals really tie this song together, so don't get all biased 'an shit, 'cause it aint done, y'heard! Moar to come soon...
Ok so I just recently got into this band and I fucking love this song. The drum tracks on this sound different than just about every other song I've done. I was going for a different compression on the snare because the original version has a pretty obnoxiously-awesome compression to it...
I really like the vocal processing you did. I'm about to demo vox for my record and will certainly be playing around with the method that you described.
The Great Divide by The Light Eternal on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free Hey guys! This is my new Project, The Light Eternal. This song will most definitely be different when the record is released because, frankly, I think the verses are boring. Especially without...
Haha, yes, you are so right! I do plan on getting one, hopefully soon. Thanks for the kind words. I really can't wait to add vocals to the songs, but my focus was to first get composition down and then re-record them. I'll be adding more tunes shortly!
