    how to use samples live?

Maybe too late, but this is how I do it for our band... I use a Digitech Jamman Solo and I alternate samples with 2 sec blank presets. They're organized in our set order. When we start playing we start the intro sample, I then use the Digitech footswitch to advance to the next slot once the...

    Random pics of your pedalboards

Since I'm using an Axe FX 2 mine's pretty lame: Guitar goes into the EB VP Jr. and then into the Axe FX 2, Fractal MFC Mk2 controls that. Side board has 3 expression pedals (only one of which is programmed) and the footswitch for the Digitech Jamman that we use for samples and noise tracks...

The Arsonist's Daughter "Grey Data" song/video...FFO Cephalic Carnage, Gorguts, Artificial Brain...

My band has been plugging away at getting back up and running after a 4 year hiatus, and part of that has been chipping away at some recording. We just finished our first track and had a weirdo video made for it. Our sound is of the tech grind/tech death variety influenced by bands like Cephalic...

Recommend pedals for 80's sounds (keyboard synth, 8-bit video games, echo ambiance, glitch/stutter)

I'd say the task is to find when to use good glitchy vs when to use kill-me-now glitchy... :deathm:

Recommend pedals for 80's sounds (keyboard synth, 8-bit video games, echo ambiance, glitch/stutter)

Rainger FX has some cool weirdo stuff... I know my Axe Fx 2 has some bit-crusher-y options with the drive/fuzz pedals, I haven't messed with them too much, but along with the ring-mod and all the control options there's got to be some glitch-y gold in there somewhere!

Which MIDI controller for my usecase?

It's hard to beat the programability and usability of a Voodoo Labs Ground Control Pro...I used one with a G-major for years and it worked great. Or are you looking specifically for a very small solution?

    Minimalist live amp for deathmetal?

EVH 5153 50w for sure. One of the only heavy, high gain heads I've come across that does just fine for tight tech-y stuff with no boost. Myself, I went the Axe FX 2/ Matrix gt800 route because I use a handful of fx and weirdo patches. Nice to have lots of flexibility in a 4 space rack...

    JPXI case advice...

So I went to my local GC today, asked them to look up the cases I was interested in and by a miracle, they had a clearance EBMM case for $99 and they knocked another 15% off of it because it was scratch/dent. Score!

    JPXI case advice...

Good advice. If there's any touring in our future it will be of the few days regional variety, so heavier duty case may be overkill. But I do kind of gravitate toward overkill...lol This is the one you have, correct...

    JPXI case advice...

So the JPXI that I picked up a few weeks ago has quickly become my main guitar. In the course of dragging it back and forth from practice, I've decided I'd like to swap out the case. The BFR case that came with it is quite nice, but I'd like to upgrade to a plastic case that I'm less worried...

Schecter KM-7 (Keith Merrow) Signature Thread

Whoops! My mistake regarding MK1/2. Yeah it was up high and hard to spot, I only noticed it as I checked out one of the new purple-y burst Schecter 7 strings that they had. Which was unplayable due to set-up...or lack thereof.

Schecter KM-7 (Keith Merrow) Signature Thread

Heads up for anyone looking for a KM7 MK2 with trem/sustainer...the Guitar Center on Halsted in Chicago has one hanging on their wall. Looks to be new old stock and sub-$800 if I recall correctly. In the Lambo Blue color...

Live Performance Vid - Using Backing Tracks

As a fan of band like Godflesh and Genghis Tron, I'm fully on board with programmed drums. It's harder for me to get the current Rings of Saturn deal where it's a drummer, singer, and guitar and they're using backing for bass and a second guitar. Just seems weird that the guy that started the...

Another Technical Death Metal Thread - Recommendations?

+1 on Decrepit Birth and Wormed. Been rocking Krigshu and Exodromos a lot lately. I'm obsessed with Artificial Brain. For tech death weirdness check out Gigan. Best song titles ever...

What guitar picks do you use ?

Dunlop Jazztone 207s...been using them for probably 15 years? When I first started trying to play fast I tried a bunch of picks and spent a lot of time dialing in my string gauge and action preferences to reduce resistance. I found that I could play much faster when the pick had no flex. I'm a...

    Anyone using in-ears?

One follow-up question...I notice the antennas on the in-ears I'm looking at are on the back of the unit and thus inside the rack. I'd want to mount the transmitter on the rear rails of my SKB 4 space...are there any issues with blocking the signal? Every show we've ever played (and probably...

    Anyone using in-ears?

This is what I was hoping...I'm religious about earplugs, so I'm getting a muffled/attenuated stage sound anyways. Just need to think about whether I want to drop another $800 after buying a guitar two weeks ago...lol.

    Anyone using in-ears?

After a 4 year hiatus, my band got back together this winter. We just found a bass player and are starting to think about getting some shows booked this summer. Hearing myself in practice is a bit of a challenge. Not because of any gear deficiency or frequency , but because the cabs I use at...

    Triaxis and MIDI sickness
