The crackle Soloists are pretty much exact clones of USA SL1s with cheaper materials. The fretwork has been spot on, too. None of these things apply to the Indo X-Series Soloists, which tend to have frets that range from "good enough" to "nice to see they're employing the blind", and the neck...
I was impressed with the X series Chinese crackles I played. The Pro Plus was fine, but very pricey and not as good as the Korean Charvels in the same price range IMO.
So, bored between appointments yesterday, I went into GC and spied a Titanium White SL3 on the wall, fresh out of the box last week. Fender seems to have fixed the issues with the first run, as this was pretty much flawless and played like butter. It kicked the shit out of the LP Standards next...
So, the funny thing is with those Jackson pickups is there's a brief window in '85 where they're quite good, and then they changed something and...they're not after that. Glad you got some of the good ones - although the J-50 is by far they best pickup they made, and I think Grover still makes...
Yeah, Crooks has one, but the guitar it's going on is in limbo. Sacsha from Helloween replaced the ABMs on his customs with Lockmeisters, though, because they apparently didn't hold up to tuning.
