The more I think about this, the more things I need to think about... - current hardware is cosmo black. I'm thinking the ideal scenario would be to go with all black hardware. I'd have to source a black Gibraltar II bridge and black Gotoh Magnum Lock tuners. EDIT: Upon taking another look at...
I've had RG550s with these combos: - Crunch Lab + Liquifire - Tone Zone + Air Norton - Evolution + Air Norton - Gravity Storm set By far my favourite was the Gravity Storm set. Evolution bridge is pretty good too, and the Tone Zone I found awful in this guitar.
Ooh, other things I need to consider: - knob choice and colour. I could keep the originals, but maybe black plastic knobs instead? - headshtock decal. I'd likely go with the JEM decal (removing the JEM part). I probably wouldn't do the same decal that's on there now. I think...
I have a 2017 RG752LWFX that is essentially perfect in every way, except the looks. So this seems like the perfect opportunity to have a dream guitar - a custom painted RG. I've always really loved custom painted RGs, especially swirls. That swirled RG2228 that Misha had done back in the day is...
I don't want to fight or argue with you. Your experience is your experience. I'm genuinely curious to know what it is about your Prestiges that went wrong. Could you share some details?
I have the 15w and play it through a EVH 112. Sounds really awesome, and any fizziness can easily be dialed out with the presence knob. To the point that I'm surprised people say it's fizzy at all, like it can't be changed. Anyway, would love to see this as a head. Please share photos if you do...
Here's the link to the latest one (2023) showing he uses it. He does switch out to different compressors over the years but I've seen the Hyper Luminal a few times.
It's tough, cause there are so many to choose from. I was definitely considering the CP-1X with the MXR Studio Comp. Both have an LED strip which I personally enjoy. Unfortunately, they didn't have one at the store to compare, and I didn't want to buy it without trying.
I guess my point is that there are so many options, that are continuing to expand, that I can't see it converge onto a subscription based model, industry wide, for a long ass time.
When modelling seeks to recreate old as shit amps, and stuff like AxeFx, Helix, Quad Cortex already recreate those amps successfully, why would anyone move from full ownership of these units to a subscription based model? I suppose the only reason would be once these units die off and you can no...
I recently purchased the MXR Studio Comp for the sole purpose of tracking cleans, solos and bass. It's really an excellent compressor. Admittedly, I'm a sucker for the LED strip indicating the level of compression.
That's really cool @LunatiqueRob ! One thing that I've found from buying a bunch of guitars over the last few years is that, irrespective of electronics, some guitars a more bright or dark or resonance or... And this isn't "tone wood" necessarily, just the individual guitars as complete...
I like that idea a lot! I do hope they make a 5150 "Tone Master" combo amp (or head). The price on those Fender Tone Master amps is really decent too IMO
In my experience, I can't deny the plonk factor. I've spend probably a total of 5 minutes in a year tweaking my 5150 amp. Sounded excellent with everything at 5 as well. My Helix patches I'm constantly tweaking, and it's taken a lot to get them where they are today. But, once I have them build...
