That model has the more vintage style pickups (Fortuna). You might prefer the Hyperion pickups. I hear ya though, it's not the same as a true neck humbucker. edit: BTW this thread is very entertaining, I'm glad you keep updating it!
@LunatiqueRob what about the Ibanez AZ (HSS) with the Dynamix switch? In the on position with the selector in the 5th position, it combines the neck and middle single coils into a humbucker configuration. I find this to be somewhat convincing of a neck "humbucker". It has less quack than a...
I wonder if this means SD4 is around the corner, is that how it usually goes? I'm quite tempted by this. https://www.toontrack.com/product/superior-drummer-3/
In my experience with the 15w on 1/4 power, you have a lot of usable volume between 0 and 1 on the master volume. Anything from whisper quiet to a loud TV. Anything above 1 though is definitely louder than regular TV volume.
Think of it like a gain boost pedal where at zero gain, it's unity "volume" going through, otherwise, you're boosting the signal. So do you want to try all amp sims where you're placing a boost pedal in front of every amp you try, including clean channels? Do you think you'll be able to get a...
I didn't really notice a difference with 1/4 power vs full. I didn't play for long, so maybe I just didn't give it a long enough shot. In both scenarios, I'm below 1 on the master volume for bedroom playing so, it's not like it makes a huge difference at low volume.
I suspect that different companies may do more or less processing (EQ) of the IRs to differentiate themselves from all the other Mesa OS Vintage 30 IRs. As for not paying $15. I don't know, it's pocket chain at that point. If it's good it's good, if not then not much is lost. And you could rip...
Very interesting. I think I'm already achieving this with my guitars. Both RG550 and my RG752 (fixed bridge) have about 1.25 mm action at 12th fret and 24th. With the low strings a little higher of course. I wonder if I could get lower but typically any lower than 1.25 mm on any guitar I've...
What is fallaway? Initially I thought you meant relief, but after reading all your points, it sounds like it's something different. How so? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm genuinely curious about this.
Micing a real amp sounds like a good idea on paper, but I know it would kill me. I work too slowly to be able to maintain the setup over time. It wouldn't work for me. Having recently watched a video of Petrucci's mic setup, I've turned my attention away from the SM57+121 setup and started...
