This is how far the first 0.023" end mill got into the ebony fretboard. This is the first time I've broken one (and two and three) of these fret slot end mills, but I've only slotted ebony boards by hand in the past. I got through 1 3/4 boards before snapping the third going at 24k rpm, 60 ipm...

Black limba bodies. Swamp ash and quilted maple tops. I'm really digging the ebony grain filler in the black limba,

Storing wood between stages of the build

This. The more control you have over the environment throughout the process the better. Storing it flat is okay as long as it's stickered.

What do you think of this monoscale conversion idea?

I didn't see page 2 and that you already did it. Awesome!

What do you think of this monoscale conversion idea?

My take is that it's probably not going to turn out exactly how you'd like it and I'd absolutely go for it. It sounds like you're willing to accept the risk involved. A lot will likely ride on the luthier's abilities and problem solving skills as it'll likely not go exactly as planned. I'd ask a...

Haha. Probably not any time soon. We have our work cut out for us.

Don't take this as dismissive as it's purely inquisitive. What about the placement would prevent a volume swell.l? It's just about inline with the bridge, which plenty of guitars do. Too close to the bridge? Too far forward? Or something else that may have been overlooked?

I like the idea of the tuners not projecting out past the body. The headless guitars I own all do that. I've not had tuning stability issues with it, but it's has always bothered me that I rest them on my thigh and they're just secured with those tiny screws. I don't dig the Strandberg jack...

    Working on our first model

Haha. Right. That's part of why we're not trying to rush into it. The competition is stiff so we want to be able to repeatably nail every aspect of the process before releasing anything. I also might end up overseas for a few years here soon, so we might have no choice but to continue to...

    Working on our first model

I've been building guitars for about 12 years now. My partner is new to it, but quite a capable human. We'll be posting photos of builds as they progress. It'll likely be a good while before anything is "ready" as we aren't just trying to jump into this prematurely and still have lots of...

We will be making models with headstocks as well. This is just the first model we're working on. We aren't trying to directly compete with Ibanez and the gang. Aviator and those homies are more of where we're looking to get a foot in. I like to remind myself that everything has been done. I just...

No worries. You're not going to hurt our feelings and you have every right to be skeptical of some random dudes (we've both been lurking around here since our teens, in our 30s now) popping in here saying the same stuff. Not hitting custom shop prices doesn't mean cheap. We're not looking to...

I dig the Kiesel route away look, but I like that idea. Being able to have a top bent to follow the contour or even delete the contours for a flat top. Different pickup routes are one of the most common requests for the CAD models we offer, so that's and easy request.

Check out Tesi Switch for the latching switches. Basically an On/Off button. I understand not everyone will like that so regular pots will be an option at no extra charge. Probably should reverse it and make the pots standard. 1.25" is including the maple cap. The body will also be weight...

    Working on our first model

We aren't looking at having them produced at a factory. Think more of a major brands "custom shop" without paying some brands "custom shop" prices. The intent is to have a very high quality guitar with incredible attention to detail and the option to add or remove features without driving up the...

    Headless Multiscale Les Paul

This is my favorite fixture. Super simple and it's so satisfying watching the side dots being cut. Progress has been slow due to a UV70P neck build I've been occupied with for a customer. Not sorry for the knockoff crocs with long socks and shorts.

    CNC fret slotting Saw addon?

This is pretty much what I came to say. As cool as adding the blade is to your CNC, I couldn't give up blind fret slots.

    RG8 Paint Repair tips?

From my experience with refinishing the cheaper painted bodies, that green/blue color seems to be where a filler was used to build up/level out a spot before finish is applied. I did an RG8 body a few years ago that was pretty spackled all over with it. No harm when its being covered with a an...
