Should I return this Indonesian Boden Original 7?

Again, it's a preference thing. If your goal is as low an action as you can possibly get while retaining playability, then yes, a taller zero fret is a senseless hurdle. But if you want to do things like playing slide, or if you're pretty heavy handed like I am, that tradeoff of open note tone...

Should I return this Indonesian Boden Original 7?

Like all set up related items, it depends on the player. I don't like a bottomed-out action because I play with a heavier hand. If you're trying to go as low as possible, then yes, a level zero fret makes more sense. You reap the benefit of better intonation at the lower frets as well.

It's very common to have a taller zero fret.

    The .strandberg* Thread

As of today I have a new Strandberg with said gigbag in my house. I'm not making any qualitative assumptions here...I still like the sleek design and the inclusion of a rain cover. I used to have a really nice Godin xtSA...now THAT thing came with a nice gig bag! But definitely not bike...

I dig the sleeker look, and as a cyclist I appreciate the thought that went into things like the rain cover and the ability to wear it offset to one side. I can't quite recall, but doesn't the outer pouch just move to the inside?

According to their website, they are made in Indonesia. This is for the Classic 7, but it says the same thing for the 6s with the trem: Bolt-On Construction Solid Body with Arm, Torso and Heel Carves White (Ghost White) / Black (Graphite) Pearloid Pickguard Alder Body Available Finishes...

Should I return this Indonesian Boden Original 7?

OK, well a few models here and there I can see more (and I do recall the Singularity now that you mention it...I think it was specifically because of the finish), but those aren't wholesale factory moves like it was from Korea to Indonesia.

MIC models from them are new to me. Is this documented anywhere?

Should I return this Indonesian Boden Original 7?

I think anyone who successfully designs, manufactures, and sells guitars squarely aimed at being ergonomic, including the bridge hardware when there weren't other options, qualifies as a design nerd. Your definition may differ, but that's my read of things. I don't disagree that the QC error...

    Loopers ?

I'd stick with the Boss range for your needs. They all store phrases (the RC-1 only stores the last recorded one) and can be found for not TOO much money. I use the Boomerang III (since you asked), but it is very much a performance looper and is expensive-ish, doesn't save loops, is big, and...

Should I return this Indonesian Boden Original 7?

Exactly. It's a big part of the reason I couldn't get on with the Kiesel headless designs; they have the advantage of the Hipshot hardware, but otherwise the guitars are pretty standard shapes with the head stock lopped off. You can tell that Strandbergs and a few other custom shop creations...

Educate me. Whats the big deal with blues guitarists?

A lot of good insight shared already, particularly regarding the history of the genre and some of its key popular players. I've often found that experiencing the roots of a genre helps me to appreciate its modern incarnations much more. Sometimes you find artists who are very much students of...

    Dennison Guitars custom build log

Nice looking axe coming along there. I really like that routed edge at the forearm carve. Exaggerates the offset look without actually altering the body shape.

Anybody catch the release video? Salen Jazz - semi-hollow, mahogany body/cap/neck with a rosewood fretboard and maple veneer, MFD Classic humbuckers, heel carve, removable pickguard. Boden DR - chambered mahogany body/cap/neck, solid finish top (Titanium, I guess?), new knurled knobs with a...

    Ibanez 2021 models (Headless!)

I don't want to believe these are real. The bad image quality, kind of strange ergonomics...I wanted them to do a headless because I thought they'd knock the design out of the park (actually really like their basses).

Should I return this Indonesian Boden Original 7?

It is such a powerful point though. Realistically, Strandberg stands alone in many respects. It's not great feeling locked in like that, but I can't find a competitive headless design anywhere.

Possible interpretation of the Boden DR name: They have an artist on their roster by the name of Dylan Reavey. https://strandbergguitars.com/artists/dylan-reavey/ Be a real shame if they are making yet another unjustifiably expensive model. And I'm saying this as a guy who really likes the...

Oh man...a replacement coming with worse issues (of the same friggin type!!) is sooooo bad. That is both an indictment of Strandberg as a brand and GC for not even checking. Pretty disappointing.

FWIW, I am looking at Guitar Brando in Alberta and Musique Max in Quebec as Canadian dealers. Standard 6s are around $2250.
