Check out my new song! https://soundcloud.com/nicholas-nicoletti/fei-long The guitar (and bass) start at :36. Both were done with the HD500. Very little actual mixing, considering I know next to nothing about that.
+1 to Gru and Chimp Spanner. You can check out Halcyon, Sithu Aye, A-SynC, David Maxim Micic. Plini is amazing as well (the guitarist of Halcyon's solo project), but he's only got a couple songs out: Plini Moonflower is AMAZING.
I saw Lady Gaga a couple years back and my god it was the best show I've ever been to. The production and everything was amazing. I could even tell she was singing (breaths and stuff from the mic). Lady Gaga's guitarist was so good, too. She had metal versions of her songs during the show...
Not at all, I'm right there with you. Does it sound good? Yes. Was it programmed? Yes. Nothing wrong with that. Most of the time, a real drummer sounds better, but there's nothing wrong with a good drum VST/VSTi doing all the "work" for you.
I'm glad I'm not the only one facing problems with him (NOTE: Not "glad", but it's comforting to know there's other people who are upset as well). I've thought about going to Austin - since I'm so close - and trying to track him down. Hitting up various Apple stores and just looking around for a...
Congrats to PTH! About $1000 over haha And I definitely agree they should allocate some of the extra money to giving themselves some. They've put in a lot of hard work! Interested in the coming up packages. Wonder what they'll be.
If I was rich and a good guitar player, that guest solo is calling my name. But god, that pizza party! I wanna do it SO BAD. Money... come to me... EDIT: Just watched it jump $2k in about 5 minutes haha. I think they're gonna reach their goal. How long has it been up? Cause they're already at...
Every now and then I'll play someone else's music if I really enjoy a particular riff or section, but mostly it's just my own music. I have noticed though, after learning someone else's song and playing it over and over for awhile my writing style changes slightly. Usually for the better (I think).
I know they started as a copycat band, but they've definitely got a sound all their own! That and they've got some songs that are ridiculous. Not as much so as Dir en grey, but you know what I mean haha.
What? I write ALL my music with my guitar in hand and I program it into Guitar Pro and add drums and everything else to it. How does that take anything away from the "natural style" that a musician has? I've been told countless times my music (in GP form or MIDI) has a distinct sound to it.
I have no idea what happened, cause I know I didn't freeze it. But when I created a new track and I moved it over (and redid the automation :( ) and it works now. I think it was a bug, but eh.
So I've been recording a song recently and after making a bit of headway I closed and saved. Opened it later to find that the automation for one of my audio tracks (note: not VST/VSTi; recorded audio) is completely greyed out, like so (see attachment... the top is the bad one, the other just for...
Got a new thingy out kinda, much better than the last and it's an actual song I'm working! It's a bit weird, but eh. This is also my new tone, which is in need of a little shaping, but it's not bad at all. Got rid of that damn hum, though...
To be honest, lyrics never did much for me but as for bands where they enhanced? Cynic, Symphony X, Volumes, some Periphery songs... I tend to just listen to guitar and the way the music interacts with everything else (the voice as melody rather than emotional delivery etc.).
