Just got done finishing my latest track. Here's an unreleased clip taken from it; my ears are fatigued so critique on the mix is most welcome. :metal: Download Ss Glitch Riff.mp3 - Kiwi6.com Mp3 Upload
Maybe a little. Then again I've never really liked TMF kicks/toms, I find they just sound too toy-like and unconvincing in comparison to standard Superior.
The drums are lacking the punch you would expect, but the guitar tone isn't too bad. A little muddy, overall it's not bad. I think the whole mix could use more compression though, especially the drums.
Turn the whole kit down and the snare even more, otherwise nice job. Liking the tone, but there's something not quite right about the snare. Maybe dial in a few cuts in the mid-range to give it some richness.
I'll be honest, it isn't great. It sounds like you recorded through an amp-sim and disabled the cab. What are you using to record? Also it's worth mentioning straight off the bat that you should always double-track rhythms and record bass on top to get a solid idea on how it sounds.
Kinda reminds me of In Flames. I'd bring down the drums and the cymbals even more, otherwise it's a great mix. Well done. Also think you should drop the whole intro down a few dB to give more of an impact when it drops.
You might want to turn those cymbals down a bit. Check your bleed settings in the different mics and take the kick/snare/toms out of the ambient and room mics, or at the least reduce them so they're just audible. Obviously like I and others have said don't be afraid of transients and compressors...
I think whole kit could use more compression, especially the snare (but the kick definitely needs some more punch too). It might be worth taking a look at your low-mids and cut out some the muddy frequencies as it sounds a bit "fluffy." Also, mess around with the reverb settings and EQ. When I...
Dial back some of the thud in the snare around the 200Hz area, so it still thuds but loses its "boxiness." Bring that kick way up too, as it's barely audible. I would also cut out some of the muddiness in the guitars in the lower-mid range. I know you said it's your final mix and this a Master...
