    I love anything 8-bit.

    Amazing HD500!! (Full song)

The drums could use more compression, beef up that kick & snare with some EQ boosts. Overall good job :)

The metal foundry and Metal Machine comparison clips!

Maybe a little. Then again I've never really liked TMF kicks/toms, I find they just sound too toy-like and unconvincing in comparison to standard Superior.

The metal foundry and Metal Machine comparison clips!

I prefer the kick in MM and the snare in TMF. Nice.

Rough demo I recorded today. Constructive criticism, please!

The drums are lacking the punch you would expect, but the guitar tone isn't too bad. A little muddy, overall it's not bad. I think the whole mix could use more compression though, especially the drums.

Testing out the new SD 59/custom

Nice mix, I think the drums could be punchier and less muddy, but overall it sounds good! I didn't expect that ending either. :D

The Ol' Rose Of Sharyn Mixtest (Blah...)

Turn the whole kit down and the snare even more, otherwise nice job. Liking the tone, but there's something not quite right about the snare. Maybe dial in a few cuts in the mid-range to give it some richness.

Anybody care to give some feedback

I'll be honest, it isn't great. It sounds like you recorded through an amp-sim and disabled the cab. What are you using to record? Also it's worth mentioning straight off the bat that you should always double-track rhythms and record bass on top to get a solid idea on how it sounds.

First time trying drumagog... sturgis snare, paramore kick, pod farm, redwirez...

I think the guitars could be brighter and less muddy. The tone is definitely there though.

New song! been a while. critique composition and mix!

Kinda reminds me of In Flames. I'd bring down the drums and the cymbals even more, otherwise it's a great mix. Well done. Also think you should drop the whole intro down a few dB to give more of an impact when it drops.

    Help make my mix better

Everything just sounds so muddy and lacks clarity. I would concentrate on removing a lot of the low-mids to give some clarity to the mix.

How do you guys get your drums to stand out without distortion?

You might want to turn those cymbals down a bit. Check your bleed settings in the different mics and take the kick/snare/toms out of the ambient and room mics, or at the least reduce them so they're just audible. Obviously like I and others have said don't be afraid of transients and compressors...

How do you guys get your drums to stand out without distortion?

I think whole kit could use more compression, especially the snare (but the kick definitely needs some more punch too). It might be worth taking a look at your low-mids and cut out some the muddy frequencies as it sounds a bit "fluffy." Also, mess around with the reverb settings and EQ. When I...

    Doubled sound help.

Turn the volume down all the way in Pod Farm.

Mix master of new song. Please give advice!

Dial back some of the thud in the snare around the 200Hz area, so it still thuds but loses its "boxiness." Bring that kick way up too, as it's barely audible. I would also cut out some of the muddiness in the guitars in the lower-mid range. I know you said it's your final mix and this a Master...
