Had this with my guitar at first, Swelled up nice and big and hurt a whole lot. I started using a strap when I play and it made the pain go away because I wasn't putting the entire weight on that area.

Try phoning up all your local guitar stores to see if they have any 8's in stock, but don't worry about the 8 feeling uncomfortable. If you learned to play a 6 you can learn to play a 8. Just takes getting used to is all.

I just got the spalted intrepid a few days ago! Damn do I enjoy looking at it and it plays great. I really recommend it. The pickups it comes with aren't really A+ but those can always be switched~
