EMG Pickups, Accessories, Wiring, Info and Help thread - post it here!!!

Heh, yeah, I do use pretty huge strings. I'll have to experiment with ways to stop it better. But thanks I was thinking that if you could switch between series and parallel you could keep the batteries at about the same life, so you could always change them at the same time. Though, it would...

EMG Pickups, Accessories, Wiring, Info and Help thread - post it here!!!

My first question is, since active pickups use weaker magnets that are boosted with a preamp, does that mean you can mute notes easier? I sometimes will want to cut off a note/chord, but it ends up hanging over a second afterwards (especially on higher gain). Second, there any downside to...

    So I bought a Peavey Vyper 15....

I have a Vypyr 15 as well. It's pretty good; you can get a variety of tones from it. It's got some kick too when you turn it up. Yesterday I got it so loud it made my ears ring after playing for a while For someone used to having a huge, extremely loud amp, that's probably not a big deal, but to...

    Guitar Modification for Heavy Strings

So essentially, unless everything else is smaller than average, all I really need to worry about is slightly widening the nut with a file and unwinding the ends of the huge strings. I don't think I'll get many trem-equipped guitars, so that probably won't be a problem; a tremolo might be a cool...

    Guitar Modification for Heavy Strings

Where would I be able to find different hardware (like the saddle)? Also, if you wanted to make the strings fit without unwinding the string (because unwinding strings is somewhat difficult and annoying) would you need new tuners? And how would you make the slots in the nut larger without...

    Guitar Modification for Heavy Strings

I was wondering, how does a guitar need to be modified to fit heavy strings? By heavy I mean up to 80's or so. What all needs to be done? Or could I simply take the guitar to a local store and tell them how it needs changed? I have a baritone right now, so I don't need to worry about it yet...

    FX loop hum

Are you sure it's the reverb pedal? Sometimes I think that if you use a graphic EQ to boost certain levels (as opposed to cutting others back) it will make some nuisances. It happens to me, but that may just be because I'm using an older EQ (it's actually not even a pedal, but I got it for $5)...

    Evolution of your guitar picks

I've tried various ones... First I used the fender celluloids. Those turn into eraser shavings all over your guitar after half an hour of shredding. Right now I use Peavey 1.4mm tortex picks. I can hardy find them anywhere but this one store. After some looking-upping I finally found them...

    What to do with?

Hmm... You could give them to those on the 7S-forum who want them for free? Better yet, you can sell it all and give me the money :D

Size .058 or .060 stainless steel strings

If you don't mind the shipping for juststrings (or you could just try to find them at your local store as singles): GHS has one GHS Super Steels .058, ST58 But you may have to end up getting a bass string (would that work? bass string on a guitar?) if you wanted a different brand, etc...

Hey man, I finally got myself that guitar I was talking about (PRS baritone). It's awesome, a significant step up from the lame guitar I had before (it was a "starter" guitar; not at all designed for what I needed). I think I will probably end up changing the pickups at some point (not too soon...

    Pickup recommendations

Again, I'll need to play it through first before I decide if I'm gonna replace the pickups (and with what). They may end up being just fine. In fact, that'd be ideal. There was another topic from a long time ago where someone wanted to replace stock pickups on a MM, too.

That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea. I really like their warmth, and they could probably be EQ'd to sound even better. Now I just need to save up some money... By the way, the guitar I'm looking at is the PRS Mike Mushok. It looks nice and is a baritone (so it can handle low...

I did some looking around at other pickups (from other companies too). I like the sound of this one (neck), but reviews on musiciansfriend say it isn't any good clean. But if it actually sounds like the demo does, then I like it...

I should really go play these for myself before I make any decisions to begin with. Are there any guitars that come stock with the first two sets?

To be honest, I'm still saving up money for a new guitar But the one I'm looking into is a baritone with a mahogany body, maple neck, and ebony fretboard. Let me guess, those are all the wrong materials for the sound I'm looking for? Yeah, I really need to do some more research...

Thanks for the input. I like the sound of the Crunch Lab, but I'm trying to find other pickups that would match it well. I think the Air Norton and the LiquiFire sound a little too mid-heavy. Is there something that has more lows and highs, but still be a good counterpart for the Crunch Lab?

What do you think of a Crunch Lab/Tone Zone combo? Both sound pretty nice, and I'm thinking that together you might get a fuller low end with mellow, but still pronounced highs.

Thank you, nonetheless, for the suggestion. It's good to have comparison from different people's interpretations and opinions.
