    Jim Dunlop Ultex Jazz IIIs!!!

I am an Ultex Jazz III user now. I tried it in rehearsal, and just like Tayhan mentioned, the grip and the resistance are better than the Jazz III Stiffo. The tone is good too.

    Jim Dunlop Ultex Jazz IIIs!!!

I got a pack of Ultex Jazz III a few days ago. I haven't tried it with my main rig, but do notice the difference in tone between it and the regular Jazz III Stiffo. The Ultex Jazz III, material wise and playability wise, as mentioned by others, is sturdy, strong, picks strings easily, and has...

Who is almost completely satisfied with their rig?

I am, actually, quite satisfied with my rig, except that I want a better MIDI foot controller, such as the Rocktron AllAccess, with a really good rack fx processor and pedal switcher.

Using an EQ Pedal? Comments, Suggestions?

I used to use the Boss GE7 and Behringer 5 band parametric equalizer. I found out that these equalizers did not make my tone sound better. I could dial in tone that sounded exactly on CDs, but in live performance, that type of tone did not cut it. I did not like it when I use them for a boost...

    Tube Amp Experience

Right on I know that the TriAxis is great, but it was so great last night. The thump of the bass, the mid crunch, the treble clarity; they were excellent, really. I do not mean to offend anyone's opinion here, but those who think that the TriAxis can't do metal or is not "heavy" enough, I...

    Tube Amp Experience

Hi everybody, I thought I would share this experience that I got last night with my TriAxis, VHT2502, and Behringer BG412s stereo set up. My guitar was Ibanez RG7321 with Blaze Custom and Air Norton 7. My band just started renting a new rehearsal place where we can use our equipment. I...

Blaze vs. Blaze Custom for death metal

It really depends on the amp and cabinet that you use, and I am not familiar with your amp. The Blaze Custom can give you thump, but not a real kicking low-mid thump. The main difference is that when you play a full chord or a power chord, the BC would "sparkle" and the Blaze would be...

    Mesa DC-5 - yay, nay?

It is a good solid amp. Sparkly clean channel with brutal distortion You can do Dream Theater, jazz, blues, classic rock, etc. What is really good about the amp is how it responds to different guitars.

    Tube upgrade: KT77 or E34L?

I have a TriAxis that runs with VHT2502. I actually compared KT77 and EL34L, and like the EL34L better overall. The KT77, at least with my setup, is not aggressive enough with distortion, and is not chimey enough with clean sound. Analogically, I think KT77 is like a Blaze pickup in which...

Dan Donegan - the weapon - worth buying ?

It is an ok pedal. It does not really suck your tone, i.e. cutting off your frequencies or output. I like the sitar effect the most. Phaser and pitch shifter are good. Other than that, the rest of the 6 modes are fine, but are not great. Although I think, it is better than a POD 2.0, I...

Blaze vs Blaze Custom Metal Clip

The characteristic of the New7 is very similar (95%) to the Blaze recording here. It has the metal thump on the bass strings, slightly scooped mids, and sparkling highs. The Blaze Custom, on the other hand, is very focused on the mid, and has a softer bass thump. I have a 7621 and changed the...

Blaze vs Blaze Custom Metal Clip

This is pretty much like a comparison between New7 and Blaze Custom. Great clips, by the way, Code001!

    Recto vs. Mark

I voted for the Mark series amps. I have a TriAxis and the preamp modes that I use the most are Mark IV clean and lead; and Mark III lead. However, at rehearsal places here in NYC, I usually plug to either a Mesa DC-5, Rect-o-verb, or a Trem-o-verb. For clean sound, I wouldn't mind using the...

Latest Acquisition - Vox Practice Amp DA15 with Pics!

Oh right, you guys are correct about the preamp tube in the ADVT series. That did not cross my mind, but at first, my first option was to get the Epiphone Valve Junior Head. I tried it out via a Vox 4x12, and it sounded pretty good. Its overdrive is nice too (cranked to 10). And then I...

Latest Acquisition - Vox Practice Amp DA15 with Pics!

I went to Guitar Center two days ago with the intention of buying a practice amp, because I don't want to use my rack unit just to practice with a live sound. I found the Vox DA15 on sale for $129.99; I paid $140.88 after tax and got a set of Not Even Slinky. It was a pretty good deal, I...

    Need a 4x12 with Clear/Deep bass/huge sounding

A 4x12 Bogner cab, perhaps?--I have never tried one. Or maybe you can just get a 2x12 Shiva cab. The 2x12 Shiva is ridiculously huge sounding; the bass is deep, punchy, and 3d like; and the mid and treble are clear.

    DiMarzio Evolution 7 anyone?

Oh, you guys make me want to switch from Blaze Custom to Evo7 now.

    Boss ME-50 Experience

For direct sound, I usually use BD-2 model (forgot the settings), but at the rehearsal, I used Modern DS with the following: Tone Modify - Presence Drive - 3 o'clock Bottom - 11 o'clock Tone - 1 o'clock Sustain - 9 o'clock My 7321 has Blaze Custom and Air Norton 7. And I didn't find...
