    Looking for some new headphones

Not recommending something knowing you most probably have got a faulty pair is kind of douche-y, actually. In my opinion at least!

    Looking for some new headphones

I have the ATM-50. I think they are good. They are comfortable, have survived about 1,5 years of very much use. Bass response is really good, although perhaps lacking some in highs!

    Kemper, Axe FX

Then I stand corrected, and I apologize! Perhaps I got it mixed up with the fact that it profiles the mic and cab!

Can't decide on a guitar interface.

I've had the UX2, and it's a really good guitar interface. Podfarm 2 comes with it, which is a pretty solid amp sim IMO, and there's practically no latency. But then, the mic pres are kind of the worst ever. If you're planning on recording say, vocals, look elsewhere. I just got the Scarlett...

    Kemper, Axe FX

It all really comes down too - Are you a tweaker or are you not a tweaker? The negative side of the Kemper is, it's never going to sound as good with YOUR guitar because the Kemper profiles the guitar, the pickups and so on. The good stuff about it is that it has a massive library of awesome...

Recommend me a recording desktop computer.

You'll get long with an i7 CPU. And lots of ram. I have 16 GB ram, and it works fine. Ram really isn't expensive either. Also, if you're a Pro Tools guy, be sure to upgrade to Pro Tools 11 while you're at it so you can actually use more than 4 gig ram. Unless you're doing video editing, graphics...

    Recommend me some plugins...

I've heard amplitube should be really good. There's also a free version of that.

    Frequency help

Exactly what I though, the fundamental on an E on a standard-tuned guitar is 82 Hz. Although I wouldn't recommend always high-passing at 162 Hz anyways, especially not if it's metal. My starting points on guitars is always 75 Hz highpass and 12.5 KHz high-pass, and then move around to see what...

    Microphone/pro tools problems

What interface are you using? Have you set the gain? Does the mic need phantom power, and if so, have given it that? Does your cables work as they should, have you tried switching it out? Do you have the right drivers for your interface?

    Bass VST?!

If you have the money, then Trillian is the top of the game. If you're into metal(Sturgis)core, then perhaps Texas Grind Bass is for you. Zombass 3 works wonders for very low-tuned stuff, Zombass 2 actually has some instruments free, if you have Kontakt!

    Microphone/pro tools problems

With the not-so-detailed information you've given, my first thought is that you probably haven't choosen the right input in Pro Tools. If you want help, you're gonna have to give us a lot more information. :/

Any of the Plug ins on sale at sweetwater worth getting?

I have Slate Drums and Slate Trigger. Love 'em. Have no reason to believe the other Slate stuff shouldn't be good, also considering all the nice things they say about it. It you can afford it, go for it!

    Frequency help

Well, to begin with, your mindset when mixing should be "cutting" instead of "boosting to make instruments stick out", given that you've tracked nice and full sounding instruments. Because generally, it's not possible to add something that isn't there in the first place with eq, but it's easy to...

    Distorting but not clipping?

^That's about right, compression adds distortion, although you have to compress really (REALLY) hard for it to be noticable. This "Overpowering" effect may be the cause of: 1. Mixing your tracks too hot. Try bringing the level down WAY down (like 20 dB) before it hits the limiter and then bring...

    Does this sound professional?

See, this is exactly what I'm talking about. You're defending yourself, practically saying "Yeah, they're wrong saying my drums don't sound good 'cause I can't make them any better 'cause they are programmed!" Now, why would people point out them being unhuman, even though the fact that they are...

    Does this sound professional?

You don't need to go to university, or get a degree. The only thing that will make your mixes better is practicing. A degree won't magically make your mixes better, and universities don't have some "Magical Tips to make Your Mixes Professional!"-book, there's plenty of free tutorials/information...

New to recording - tips for recording acoustic?

This is where I think you got something wrong, if you're asking what I'm thinking. See, an interface isn't an instrument, or a plugin, or any such thing, it records stuff. Real stuff. You can not magically feed it a midi-file and it will play something back for you. There are, however some...

    Does this sound professional?

It's a nice mix, definitely, but sounds like coming from AAA studios, nah. The biggest problems would probably be the drums (too thin and clicky for my taste), the whole mix seems to lack some 'depth', rythm guitars are a little too upfront, cymbals seems kind of disconnected from the rest of...

Does it matter how good the bass is if im only going right into the interface?

Well, the others pretty much said. The quality of the instrument is perhaps 40 of the tone, tight, aggressive pllaying with new strings is also about 40%, and the actualy post processing is maybe 20%. You NEED to have a good DI for the bass to sound good. That said, you don't automatically...
