Metallica used to slave Mesa preamps into Marshall power amps so it does happen at times.

I use a Mesa Mark IV and a 5150II through my Mesa OS cab and they both sound great.

Does the noise gate feature work even if the footswitch for the drive is off? Because my NS2 is always on even if my Maxon is not on.

My Mesa Mark IV needs no boost. I have to really turn down the gain on the amp to be able to use my Maxon 808 but then the pedal just brings it right back to where I was before I lowered the gain. And I find the amp sounds a little fatter without it.

I am looking at one of these and was wondering if there was a volume jump between the clean and distorted channels. I understand there are 2 master volumes but I would like to use the second one as a solo boost. Thanks!

Congrats! Its a great amp. I had one for a while but it had to go in favor of my Mark IV. I just couldnt justify keeping both amps so the Mark IV won out. If the 5150 III had just the green and blue channels separately, i would have liked it more. Or at least separate volume/gain controls.

The JP2C can do low tuned thrash easily. The only question is if it would be that much of an upgrade tonally for you. I havent tried the Mark V but I compared the JP2C to my Mark IV and honestly, the difference wasnt worth it. If I didnt own the IV I would buy the JP though fwiw. But you...

My buddy brought his jp2c over the other day and I compared it to my Mark ivb head. It is a great sounding amp but not great enough for me to sell my mark iv for one.

Of the 3 which do you prefer? I have the Mark IV, just wondering if the other 2 would be an upgrade worth making.

I dont know how I ever made it without my Mark IVb. Recently I tried to replace it with a Fryette Sig X. Ended up bringing the Fryette back even though it did sound great, I just preferred my Mark.

I had one for years and only ever used 1 side. I just turned the volume down and the presence up on the side I wasnt using and never had an issue. I called Mesa to confirm this at some point. I did it with the 50/50 and a 2:90 that I had with no issues.

This isnt the little satellite model that they made to take the slave out signal?
