. My Mesa Mark IV. Best amp I have ever owned.

Preamps, power amps, why not more creativity?

Metallica used to slave Mesa preamps into Marshall power amps so it does happen at times.

best heads to pair up with Mesa oversized 4x12?

I use a Mesa Mark IV and a 5150II through my Mesa OS cab and they both sound great.

    (NPD) Amptweaker TightDrive JR

Does the noise gate feature work even if the footswitch for the drive is off? Because my NS2 is always on even if my Maxon is not on.

Do all amps need an od pedal?

My Mesa Mark IV needs no boost. I have to really turn down the gain on the amp to be able to use my Maxon 808 but then the pedal just brings it right back to where I was before I lowered the gain. And I find the amp sounds a little fatter without it.

    ENGL Fireball 60 volume control

I am looking at one of these and was wondering if there was a volume jump between the clean and distorted channels. I understand there are 2 master volumes but I would like to use the second one as a solo boost. Thanks!

    NAD!! - 5150 III 50 watt

Congrats! Its a great amp. I had one for a while but it had to go in favor of my Mark IV. I just couldnt justify keeping both amps so the Mark IV won out. If the 5150 III had just the green and blue channels separately, i would have liked it more. Or at least separate volume/gain controls.

    Mesa Mark V vs JP2C?

The JP2C can do low tuned thrash easily. The only question is if it would be that much of an upgrade tonally for you. I havent tried the Mark V but I compared the JP2C to my Mark IV and honestly, the difference wasnt worth it. If I didnt own the IV I would buy the JP though fwiw. But you...

I got to play the new Mesa Boogie JP2C

The clean on the JP was better than the clean on the Mark IV. I suck at describing tones but it sounded a little more full and less sterile than the IV. It was in the clean channel I noticed the biggest difference. As far as the lead channel, I could get them both sounding very similar. As...

I got to play the new Mesa Boogie JP2C

My buddy brought his jp2c over the other day and I compared it to my Mark ivb head. It is a great sounding amp but not great enough for me to sell my mark iv for one.

    I think i'm just a Mark guy.

Of the 3 which do you prefer? I have the Mark IV, just wondering if the other 2 would be an upgrade worth making.

    I think i'm just a Mark guy.

I dont know how I ever made it without my Mark IVb. Recently I tried to replace it with a Fryette Sig X. Ended up bringing the Fryette back even though it did sound great, I just preferred my Mark.

Mesa 50/50 Stereo Power Amp - Load Resistance

I had one for years and only ever used 1 side. I just turned the volume down and the presence up on the side I wasnt using and never had an issue. I called Mesa to confirm this at some point. I did it with the 50/50 and a 2:90 that I had with no issues.
