They actually were made in Japan up until 1986-87. They started making Korean Aria Pro II’s around that time. They are still being produced in Indonesia,China and Japan. I’m not sure where the Japanese guitars are made today. I actually own a new Japanese Aria Pro II PE and it is nothing...
I had a 1976 Ibanez Johnny Smith L5 guitar. Like you with your Ibanez LP’s I definitely wish I had held onto that guitar. Definitely the one that got away!!
It’s been more than a decade that I have seen one of those guitars in person. They are somewhat rare in the US. Things might be different up in Canada. I have a MIJ Yamaha SG700 guitar. The SG guitars seem to be a bit more plentiful down here as I do see them every so often.
I imagine those PE Schon guitars are hard to come by. Aria still makes some wonderful PE guitars in Japan however, that model has long been discontinued.
Here is my arrangement of the standard song “Moonglow.” I used a Hagstrom 67 Viking II reissue for the video. The guitar is a full hollowbody and I am really enjoying the sound of these mini-humbuckers.
Wow I had no idea that ESP made guitars like that! I suspect those were only made for the Japanese market. That is a pretty amazing guitar you got there.
I believe that the Cort factory makes Jackson’s Indonesian guitars. I know Cort typically really makes some great guitars. They actually build most of Ibanez’s Indonesian guitars as well. However, sometimes you do get one that fell through the cracks or was a friday afternoon special.
