    Which overdrive for metal??

MXR = owned by Dunlop. Never been a fan of most of their pedals since they're pretty noisy. I'd be interested to try the new Custom Badass Modified OD though.

    Schecter or Ibanez?

I hope you're not basing your decision on opinions alone. If you are, here's my two cents: -If you like Ibanez, go with Ibanez. Their necks are good, but I feel they're nowhere near a Jackson. -I prefer Schecters for what I do. I like their neck joints, they have great sustain and warm...

How do i get a modern metal sound with the ENGL Invader 150?

Very true. Engl amps are definitely nice. I've played a Powerball II and love it. I honestly think that Invader has a tube issue since I've never heard an Engl sound bad. If you're going for a Nevermore sound, Jeff Loomis loves his Engls (even though he's played many different amps throughout...

    Which overdrive for metal??

GearManDude's Luther Drive. Modified TS808 with a tone knob that reacts all the way from 1 to 10 and helps keep the low end tight and crispy

    Peavey 6505+ 112 re-tube...please help...

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you...been running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to figure out when I'm getting the hell out of Kuwait and going home. I know what you mean. I've owned a 5150, 5150 II, and 6505+. Most (if not all) of the gain comes from P1-P3. If...

    ISP Decimator G-String...Mistake!??!

If you're gonna go dual Decimator, be careful using the second one in an effects loop. No effects loop is fool-proof in preventing volume drop. You'll probably have to mess with it to get it just right so it's cutting back the amp's natural hiss without dropping your volume too much. I used...

Engl Invader 150 2nd hand selling for 2145 USD worth it? Or buy othersimilar amps?

For $2k there are a lot of other options. If you're dead set on one, the guitarist of Within the Ruins, Joe Cocchi, is selling his 100W Invader for $1800.

    Peavey 6505+ 112 re-tube...please help...

Warmer is a bit of a vague term...can you explain what you'd want it to sound like (more treble, etc.)? Also, do you have any effects pedals that you're using? *EDIT: Are you talking about the clean channel or the high-gain channel?*

    Thinking about a new amp

Peavey XXX on Ultra = unusable. You can get more usable gain out of a JSX, plus the fat switches really help out and the cleans are better on a JSX IMO. Having said that, I'd still rather get another 5150 combo and front-end-pedalboard the clean channel til it sounded good. God I miss that...

    Peavey 6505+ 112 re-tube...please help...

You looking to get the same tonal characteristics? Or are you looking to beef it up a bit? If cost and delay on S&H from the UK isn't an issue, take a look at Mazda 12ax7's. They're Mullards on steroids and are usually used in vintage amps for bit more growl (60's Fenders, etc). They...

    7 string time.

Hey all. I'm new here (go me!). Real talk though, I've been visiting the site for info on everything from amps to pickups for about the last month. It's one of the only forums that will work on government computers (I'm deployed in Kuwait). I've played a few 7 strings. Anyways, I've been playing...
