the only thing i wish the Herbert had is the VH4 Channel 2. The Herbert Channel 2- is very underwhelming imo, I would rather use a nice overdrive in the glorious clean channel than the 2 (-).
I dreamed about the Diezel Herbert many times. There is just something about that thicc low end distortion that I love. Also it kinda of reminds me of heavy modded Marshall. After many months of waiting and checking other amps I like i decided to pull the trigger.
I will share below a couple...
I got an Herbert a few days ago and this sums up my experience. The Mid Cut with an SD1 in front it just becomes an ultra modern metal beast with lots of clarity. I'm surprised how an Amp with that amount of gain is so quiet without a Noise Gate.
NAD incoming...
and if you, of course, have the money and want to buy one of those marvelous "Chug sound maker" things, guess what ??
They are not in Stock and not even a word when they will be! Also so far no word when Mesa will be on Thomann and other stores in Germany.
So you better off not getting...
I have the Marshall 1960AV 4x12 which I’m happy with it. It has lots of focus on mids and rounded highs. For the price I got it used it’s more than worth it.
Dream cab would probably be the Mesa 4x12 oversized but in Europe is almost impossible to find at a good price.
I own the Petrucci Wah and while i like it and does the Petrucci thingy perfectly I would buy today the Wylde Wah or the Bad Horsie Wah.
I feel that the Petrucci Wah has a huge swipe and it's too vocal. Kind of reminds of me of a Talk Box.
AFAIK Papa Het used Diezels in that time in combination with Rectos at least live.
I would say Bob Rock production and recording made his sound look huge.
Which tubes came with your amp ?
There is an online shop close to me that is selling the 6L6 version. I might pull the trigger, even though its crazy expensive here.
For that amount of money one can get any european branded Amps even boutique amps. So far ive only seen the price on the Andertons im curious what will be the prices when Mesa arrives at Thomann.
Gosh even the 4x12 Cab is crazy expensive :/
from what i've heard this amp sounds really good. I'm amazed even how nice the cleans sound and the hotrodded marshall tones in the first channel.
I would trade my PB2 for one of these ;)
