Also forgot about your question re signal/noise ratio… my answer being, not necessarily, in so far as guitar input. If you think about it, guitar pickups are far noisier than the noise floor on your interface. Making it not an issue. It would be a factor on microphones more than direct guitar...
Depends on the setup ie interface, guitar etc. in my experience if I set interface to zero the signal is too weak. I have neuraldsp gojira. When I set my interface to about 10 o’clock I get better results for high gain tones. With that said, for clean tones it’s better to lower the interface...
My tone has improved across my ampsims, NDSP, mercuriall 6160iii, u530, Toneforge disruptor. I’ve essentially lowered the ampsim input and output in some cases. I also find that if I set my interface input to about halfway or less than, it’s better then at zero. But will still experiment with...
Cheers. I just tried cutting the NDSP input by 3dB and it helped. I’m curious about something. Your scarlet max gain is +15.5dBu. Why would that mean to boost instead of cut according to the video?
Ok need some help with this. I have a presonus studio24c. In the specs do I go off the mic preamp max input level which is +10 dBu (+-0.5 dBu minimum gain) or the main and line outputs maximum level which is +10 dBu (1kHz, unity gain, balanced) Second question, does this mean I need to drop the...
I I agree. There’s videos that show the signal/noise ratio gets worse the lower you set the interface input. And personally, I’ve always felt Ola’s tone sounds flat and lifeless. Tones I am digging most are Fit for an autopsy’s, Whitechapel and Orbit culture. The best way I can describe...
Hey I'm a bit late to this Q but I saw the same Ola review and noticed the same thing about the interface gain. I decided to try it on my Presonus 24c interface. The pick attack sounds much better (i.e 16th note metal riffs) but the chunky palm mutes I was getting before aren't hitting the spot...
Mine…bridge pup 3mm bass side, 1.6mm treble. Might have to try raise it to 2mm on the bass side to compare. Neck pup 2.5mm bass side, 2.4mm treble. It sounds a bit warbled especially on the bass notes higher up. Might need to lower it
Hey thanks for that. Just for comparison/ reference can you tell me what measurement you have them set to? I’m measuring to the bottom of the string by holding the low string down at the last fret. Same on the treble side with the high string.

I know pickup height can be a preference thing but I was wondering if there is a suggested height for these pups? I’m getting quite a bit or noise/crackling through the speakers from them. Or I’d anyone has these or done tech work on these what are you setting them at? Cheers.
I’ve got a 27” scale 7 string. Same tunings. Recently put NYXL11-64 on it. After setup I still have intonation issue on lowB and E strings. Going back to 10-59 to see how it goes.
Update: First I don’t have a fret rocker so I just used a bank card across three frets. 1-3 then 2-4, 3-5 and so on. All level. Then I checked the neck. There was enough clearance at the 8th fret. Even so I made a counter clockwise (relief) truss rod adjustment a quarter turn. Tested without...
I would say about 0.1 mm. Should I increase it further? Also do you have a link to these metal shims. I can’t seem to get anything in my google search. I’m probably not searching for the right thing?
