NGD Carvin DC727 KOA and SWAMP ASH (no 56k joke for you!)

Great looking Carvin! How's it sound? After i got mine (Walnut/maple) and having to deal with it's extreme brightness, i've always wondered if I should have picked different woods. Still love it the same. have fun with her!

    NGD: Blackmachine B7

If you put it on the grass again i'm gonna steal it and say you threw it away! great looking guitar. I wish I played well enough to justify buying something that nice.

    NGD - Carvin DC800 Claro

That is one absolutely gorgeous guitar. I might get kicked in the face for saying this, but it really reminds me of a Blackmachine. good call on the stainless frets, absolutely the best option Carvin offers. I have stainless frets on my 747 (5 years old) and it's still perfect. the frets on...

    Ibanez RG2228L

As a righty, I feel as though Ibanez should offer the RGA8 in lefty. It is a quality guitar at a reasonable price, it's not really fair to leave leftys out of everything. It might not be economically feasible for them to make an RG2228L. I can't imagine them sellling that well to begin with...

    NGD: DC800 content

Thats a great looking pair of guitars you have there. I'm glad to hear that the Carvin 8 strings are legit. I have a Carvin 7 and when I saw the 8 strings in the catalog I almost went into shock. I've played few guitars that feel as nice as a Carvin.

Randy Blythe arrested on charges of manslaughter

I gotta agree with this statement. Because he physically pushed the guy, then he is guilty of whatever happened. I would really like to see what Czech's personal defense laws are. If they're similar to the United States, you can only defend yourself with equal force. In which case, I...

    Agile multiscale 8-string discussion

If a fanned fret 8 string was offered I would definitely order one ASAP. I would prefer some sort of middle or neck pickup and a non-EMG model because of how compressed they sound with my Vetta.

Where to get strings for an 8 string.

Don't mean to bump a dead thread, but it seems like it could be useful... I would look at JustStrings.com - Strings for guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and other musical instruments for individual strings and such. They have a much larger selection than most of your larger music stores...

    Noise Gate/ Feedback etc

I've been using an ISP decimator pedal for a while. I know it's not the same thing as the rackmount but it should be comparable. I was running a stereo rig (splawn quickrod and Framus Dragon) and using the Morely Tripler as an ABY. It's a pretty noisy setup. The ISP helped knock a good bit...

Worth buying the Line 6 300 watt cab with modeling speakers?

IMO, the Line 6 cabs aren't quite as good as a cab you choose specifically to improve your tone. I find my Vetta gets lost in the mix when I've used my friends Line 6 Cab or my B-52 cab loaded with V12 legends. When I run it with my Cornford and G-flex I get a much better overall sound. They...

    Engl VS Vader

Are you going for a sharper mid scoop or a more well rounded tone? For a sharper mid scoop I recommend the Genz-Benz G-flex. The ports really open up the bottom and also gives you a tone similar to a Fender open back with the extended highs. Vader would be suitable for a bigger low end as...

    Gear whoredome: a sad truth.

I know the feeling. I went about 2 months without buying or trading anything, worst 2 months of my life. Schecter Custom Shop Avenger is clearing this problem up though. I'm pretty sure I'm going to flip it as soon as I get it though. I've wanted an RG550MXXDY for a while now.

NAD: Carvin V3 (Full review / Rig pics inside)

We've tried 3 different tube screamers through it. Maxon OD9, Fulltone OCD, Keely Modded TS808. We're just having trouble getting a nice low end punch.

Our rhythm guitarist has a V3. We're using a 15 band EQ on it and still can't dial up a thick, punchy tone. It's always thin, shrill, and fizzy. Any suggestions?

Less Forgiving Amps? (SH!T in = SH!T out)

Splawn Quickrod. Out of all the amps mentioned thus far in the thread, I always hear more mistakes with the quickrod.
