I have used logic pro for many a project and I love it. I had a MOTU firewire interface. It works for pretty much every step of the process. Although, I'm sure there would be better specific programs for certain aspects of the process like sepultorture said.

Well, it has been established that it is certainly do-able, but I must say I swear by it! I use a set of D'Addario Light Top/Heavy Bottom and then a .70 D'Addario single bass string for the low. I did have to make minor set-up adjustments, but then I can be a little crazy about that stuff...
