I don't even understand the logic with loosening the tension. If the posts were that soft, wouldn't they also develop flat spots from sitting in one position too? It reminds me of when people say you should loosen the strings on a guitar that's in storage and doesn't get played often so the neck...
I'd love to participate in this thread, but I think black 7620s with the one-piece neck and stock pickups is the best RG7—or RG in general—ever made, so I have nothing to add. I'm going to enjoy following though.
I can only speak on USAs, which I've owned an awful lot of going back to the late '90s. There will be a dud here are there from all eras, but the vast majority of the ones I've owned and played have been pretty consistently great—assuming you like the things that make a Jackson a Jackson. (For...
Hard to imagine not wanting a P90 7 as much as this one, but the Evertune/12th inlay/colored fretboard combo is way too much to overcome. I love seeing this though.
I keep a 25.5" 7 string in G# standard using a 64 for the low string. It works perfect for me, but I know some people like really high tension. That guitar also has a double locking trem, which is always going to hold tuning better.
"24.75" scale headless" is on the very short list of things that could get me to consider buying a Kiesel (right alongside short-scale 7 w/Floyd). Unfortunately goofy 12th fret inlays are on my list of non-starters. I think this is really cool though otherwise.
I know who Tosin is, but not sure I've heard him outside of demos. The main appeal to me is the 24.75” to 25.5” scale length, which has always seemed like the most logical fan for a 7, yet pretty rare. I think it looks pretty cool too—I'm sure I'll get one eventually, I've just been putting...
I've owned a USA and played a couple Pro Series, and I thought the specific examples of Broderick imports I played really held their own. They were super heavy like the USAs, so no better or worse in that department. Same pickups, which are basically my favorite passive pickups there are—I'd...
