Up until last month, I did too, had it tuned to drop A. Didn't really use the lower string that much, though I had a fair bit of leeway with some songs if we were reworking them. Played mostly rock from the 60's through to the early 90's. Didn't sound out of place.
Didn't see a mention for Pestilence's newest album, so here it is. Recorded on 8-strings and featuring Jeroen Paul Thesseling on 7-string bass... [URL="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yC5Z8pNdWNA"]
A bit more of a modern feel, but the first Defeated Sanity album has a fair amount of Erosion Of Sanity to it. Unfortunately they dropped that feel in their later works.
Hey all. Right now I'm having massive problems trying to wire my neck pickup into my Ibanez RG. Even though I've followed the wiring to the letter, the sound is completely clean (even on maximum distortion) and will not respond to any changes in the volume knob settings. Is something wrong...
Hey all Haven't had that much luck with the local forums, so I might just give this one a shot. My band Livid In Bloom is looking for both a bassist and a drummer. We play alternative hard rock/metal with all sorts of extra stuff thrown in, but it mainly sounds like Alice In Chains, Black...
Just the same set, not the same song. Some of the songs I've done in Drop C have some Morbid Angel-type noise leads, but none of the songs in D standard have any trem use, which is why I was hoping I could solve the problem this way. Thanks for your help, time for plan B...
Hey all I've just got a project off the ground (check the link in my sig if you're interested), and neither of the 6 strings I have at the moment are up to the task, and I can only really afford to buy one new guitar cause I've only got a part time job. But seeing as the 6 string songs are in...
I might just put some pictures in here after this, but for now: 1: An old Yamaha nylon string that belonged to my dad, and the only one I don't have anymore. The neck warped, which bent the bridge which meant you couldn't use the first fret of the guitar anymore. We ended up giving it to...
Don't know how to embed, but here's one I like that hasn't been mentioned. Ten Masked Men - You Spin Me Round EDIT: Well whaddya know, it did it for me! WIN! dd
Brief & Accurate Description of gear/guitar: 2 EMG 707TW pickups, as new. Took them out of my Hellraiser because I didn't like the sound. For sale either on their own or both together. Accessories: By themselves I'll throw in the 7 pin cable (both of which are about 35cm long) and the...
I really can't narrow it down to just 5, because I've tried to learn something from everybody over the years, so it's gonna go like this: 1) Jimmy Page: THE influence on me, ever since I first heard Led Zeppelin and ever since I picked up a guitar at 14. Back then I was drawn to the riffing...
Actually they've only been using them from Nothing onwards. Destroy Erase Improve and Chaossphere are on 7-strings tuned to Bb. As for Cannibal Corpse, a lot of their later stuff is actually on 6-strings tuned to Bb, as Rob I'm pretty sure never uses 7s and Pat apparently feels more...
Funnily enough, it wasn't until I joined my cover band which plays classic rock. In spite of this I have a massive amount of leeway in the guitar parts, so I try and make it as heavy and wild as I can get. When we were running through a few new songs, I was playing a few riffs on the 6-string...
Ok here goes. I have a few other ideas (due to the lack of pointy 7's floating around) as well, but this is the one I want the most: Rhoads V shaped body, Tasmanian Blackwood (which is pretty much Koa) and quilt maple top, greenburst finish and abalone binding. Bolt-on maple neck with pao...
