I own one, unmodded, and its a very nice guitar, I've played a few gigs with it, but I'd change the pickups and the tuners. The neck is thick, which fits me well, its not too heavy but not too light, and its got a thick tone to it. I have some pics of mine, my avatar is the 12th fret marker.

I haven't broken a string while playing since right when I first started playing. It was usually when I was tuning though (way back when).

I'd go with the ESP, but I'm not a big Ibanez or Schector fan. I play an H-207, and for the money, it's a wonderful guitar. I can't say much about the SC-207, besides the fact that I've never really played an ESP I haven't liked. Some more than others, but you get my point. Esp's seem to come...
