Hey, my apologies for the delay in responding. I am in Geneva, don't have any committed band mates, though I know some musicians who might be interested - perhaps a vocalist, in which case I would probably play guitar.
Do you live nearby? Do you know anyone interested in forming or joining a...
I'm forming a band somewhere along the genres listed in the title. I've played guitar for 13 years, played bass in a band for 2 years, and have been singing and screaming for some time, as well.
I'm currently taking singing lessons and would like to be the singer/frontman of the band, but if...
I've never played an Agile, and for years now have mostly played Ibanez guitars, which I like for their neck profiles. How would you say the neck on this pretty beast compares to a typical Ibanez neck? For instance, the description at Rondo music indicates the Agile has a uniform neck profile...
Hey, I've been screaming for many years now and can perform a variety of screams. I can do some low growls, a more mid-ranged false chord scream, a fry scream, etc.
Having listened to "Beware the Depths," that's some fairly cool stuff and I would be up writing and recording vocals for that...
I've been working on my guitar tone in preparation for recording a new song. Both guitars were recorded through an Axe Fx Standard using my Ibanez 7321 with a D-Sonic 7 in the bridge position. The left-panned guitar uses the FAS Modern amp with the 4x12 V30 cab, while the right-panned guitar...
I completed my first song and released it on YouTube. I'd love to get some feedback on the mixing/mastering end of things.
Btw: the irony of posting this song using the internet is not lost upon me :)
It might depend on just how small your room is, but then again, maybe not. For instance, I write, record, and mix in my bedroom which is about 10ftx10ft, maybe a bit smaller, and has a ceiling between 8 and 9 ft high.
That said, I use 8-inch speakers and I'm glad that I do, mainly because they...
Thanks for all of the responses, they have given me some good methods to try for myself. Thus far I have Superior Drummer's stock compressor applied just to the snare for tone, Reaper's stock multiband compressor applied to the whole kit with a small cut in the band of ~3900 Hz to ~4100 Hz to...
I was about to start mastering a track, when I noticed that there were semi-regular peaks (for newbs, a peak is a sudden spike in amplitude (volume)). As I listened to the track and watched the waveform, I could see right away that the snare was the culprit.
That kind of excessive peaking needs...
So I've been thinking recently about how I use the volume sliders as I create my mix. What I've been doing is to default all sliders to 0.00dB, which is to say that I try to leave them unchanged. As I add instruments, I push a slider up if I have trouble hearing it in the mix or I pull a slider...
I'm definitely reminded of Lamb of God, probably because of a similar guitar tone and vocal style. The mix is pretty clear, one thing I notice is that you might try thickening either the bass or guitars a bit for a fuller overall mix. But it sounds quite good as it is.
This is the first (so far only) serious mix I've done.
Guitars: Ibanez 7321 w/ DiMarzio D-Sonic -> Axe Fx Standard
Bass: Ibanez BTB 1005 -> Axe Fx Standard / SansAmp RBI
Drums: SD2 (O rly?)
Vocals: Blue Bluebird Mic in an open room (hehe, no soundproofing for me)
Synth: Zebralette
DAW: Reaper...
Having heard the Yamaha HS80Ms myself, I'd say the frequency response is fairly flat (and may be the most so you will find in that price range). I do think that's preferred even if you get used to whatever pair you choose.
I also get the impression that whatever you choose, 8" speakers will...
First off, mix is very good overall. The instrument levels are appropriately balanced, each has its place in the mix and has great tone, and most importantly, the sonic vision you developed for the track shows. It sounds to me like it's 90% of the way to what I would expect from a professional...
