Extreme metal guitar is only for impressing other blokes confirmed

Yes. I don't do metal but I readily admit some lines are just to show extreme competency or virtuosity . I remember in Guitar Player Magazine one of the Jazz guys saying ' I never play fast just for the sake of playing fast' - well WTF does that mean - you wait for God or an Angel or...

    Who prefers 22 fret guitars?

I play more of a clean tone - so most Guitars will be warmer with the neck PU further from bridge . I had a BC Rich long ago that was 24 fret but very warm sounding anyway. Due to the 59 Duncan passive H-S-H config and Koa body. But I took a chance . I like warm tones and clear chords - I...

    Chris Broderick's Pick Clip

Thanks for the response . I ordered one to see if it will be better than just my thumb itself for PianoGuitar stuff.

    Chris Broderick's Pick Clip

I notice people who use this on Demos are using it as a flatpick. Has anyone used it on a demo to free the index finger - and allow upstrokes and downstrokes with thumb while using OTHER fingers on the higher strings . It's difficult to do upstrokes with thumb so if this works it would free up...

NGD Epiphone MKH SnoFall 7 String

That's cool. Kind of like a 7 String Les Paul. Is that the Vibe it has , soundwise ?

Are Scallops Important For Malmsteen Fluidity?

The fluidity is not from the scalloped board....that aids in the Vibrato and possibly aids in a lighter touch with left hand but Yngwie is an amazing Guitarist- this from someone who plays nothing resembling metal or hard rock - but skill is skill . The fluidity comes in Malmsteen's case from...

    Carvin CT74

Which has warmer neck tones , neck thru or set neck ? Which has longer sustain , neck thru or set neck ? Thanks.

    NGD Ibanez neck-thru

Yeah ! I'd really like to see more set neck and neck through 25.5" Scale Guitars from ALL MANUFACTURERS. EVERYBODY makes another Strat Style Bolt On and thinks they've reinvented the wheel. Let's see some Set Necks and Neckthroughs in 25.5 ".

    NGD PRS 513

Congrats and enjoy it ! One thing-the Cat in the Photo seems to be very concerned about the height adjustment of the middle Pickup, suggest you check it.....

    Guitars made from....Skateboards!

Yeah-it is so annoying to see a 59 Les Paul converted to a Skateboard.....

    BC Rich "Mahogany"

Yeah, not sure if ypu can put an exact % on it but if you want your neck thru to sound like Mahogany, the neck is where you start. The side "wings" are considered less important by most but some conyribution to tone.

NGD: It's a Carvin... and it practically GLOWS.

Really nice- the Headstock looks really nice on this Model and the finish does look great. How is the acoustic unplugged volume on it ? And sustain and general fatness plugged in ?

Guthrie Govan's personal Suhr Standard for sale

I agree . 8 grand is high for Any guitar but it's even worse when it's a Bolt On. I have a nice Bolt On now but would prefer set neck or neck through -but hard to find in 25.5 " scale and 22 frets set neck. The problem when Bolt Ons get VERY expensive is almost anyone can put the CNC parts...

New ENGL Ironball 20w = mean lunchbox amp head

Zim- I was listening to the Demos, surprised by the super clean OR fatter cleans and the boosted singing Cleans on this -maybe the best Clean Channel on an ENGL ? As I said I heard one guy get an EJ tone in a Demo but can this little Head also do some smooth 80s Rock Tones easily. Also...

New ENGL Ironball 20w = mean lunchbox amp head

Yeah sounds very very good to me so far. Nice fat cleans or scooped cleans and with the Boost on the Cleans,.a whole other Range of Tones. I'd like to hear less Gain on the Rhythm/Lead Channel since I don't do Metal but I heard an EJ type tone on one Demo and I'd like to hear some mid gain...

    My photos from Musikmesse 2012

what were your impressions of the Legacy 3 ? Is it as good or better than the Vai Demo ? Does it sound better the Tubemeister 36 at equal volume ?

    N7D Carvin DC747

Congrats on the beautiful guitar ! Yes- I would definitely try lowering the pickups ! I have an H-S-S Carvin Bolt in Koa and I have the pickups low so there is no pick noise unless I pick hard. It has generally thicker Strat type tones this way, very warm but articulate. So start very low...

    Carvin releases mini V3

Well - it depends how good the Master Volume is - 7 watts especially high gain is very loud , but with the master on 1 or so there's a chance that the 7 watt setting will help at low volumes. The trick I found years ago- weird but true is at VERY low tube power- you don't want a guitar speaker...
