Yeah I figured that most of that would be credited to the recording process.
I'm running a Schecter Blackjack C1 ATX FR w/S&D Blackouts. Vader 2x12. 11-15-22-32-42-54. Boosting with a Xotic BB+.
I've been trying to replicate ABR's tone for a while but haven't come close (IMO) to matching it.
The palm mutes beginning at 4:32 in Meridian for example are godlike. They sound extremely clean and well...brutal at the same time. Any clue on how to get a similar sounding tone?
I picked up a...
I'm curious what item(s) I need to properly bias an amp. Multimeter and probes right?
I was thinking of a Weber Bias Rite BR-2: Weber Bias Rite cathode current monitor
Is that a good setup or is there a better alternative?
Help is greatly appreciated.
Yeah that's a nice thing about PA tubes; you can just swap them out easily and quickly.
I'll probably put Penta 12AX7's in everything but experiment with a handful of others in V1.
Good idea. This actually leads me to my next thing: learning to do my own biasing.
I think I understand the gist of it pretty well from the research and video's I've seen. Can anyone recommend me a quality voltmeter?
Also, Recs have a fixed bias correct? Are the trim pots are under the...
Well from the small time I've spent with a 3ch, I think it's base tone is very much what I'm looking for.
I might get like FJA's clarity mod to just improve everything a little. If that were the case, do you think it'd matter if I had an 3ch as opposed to a 2ch?
Excellent advice, I'm super stoked to find a deal on one.
One last thing, do you think getting a newer Recto and having it say, FJA modded would negate any differences I might encounter on old model vs. new model?
Thanks for all the replies, I definitely feel more informed.
Won't different tubes have a significant impact on the tone? I hear a lot of different things about what people say sound good. Regular 6L6's, EL34's, KT77's, 5881's etc.
