Yeah it has the original pickup placement i think, but i never saw a reason for them to move it. It darkens the basswood and it gets that jeff loomis rhythm sound. Its 1.5 inches from the low b saddle to the pickup (same as the b saddle on my rga8)
The jackson is made in indonesia which is why its on the cheap side. Neck construction usually doesn't affect the price. It's not an original floyd, it's some frt 2000 or something. It's also seen on agiles. The ibanez is worth $1500 with it's japanese quality, hard case, etc. The old...
the frets are smooth and the ends are very taken care of. i have never had action this low with no buzz. I agree, they should have used passive routs with no pickup rings.
Hey guys. Heres my new jackson slatxmg3-7. I tried every 7 at long&mcquade and ended up bonding with this one. My first impressions were: -It has incredibly smooth frets -it only has 9-52's and it has enough tension in B -The longer scale doesn't affect my playing -It has a nice ring to...
To answer how cheap this can be if you DIY: The block of alder was $100, DA8 was $100, and some electronics were $20. the rest was salvaged from the rga8. Add about $100 for shipping all that to canada. I had all the tools and I work at a wood finishing company (not nearly as good as a pro...
just a little update to this. the power transformer has been replaced $450 after taxes :ugh: thanks for all the help everyone :metal: il be buying brand new amps from now on
I switched the bias selector switch to 6l6. as far as i know, thats all i had to do to bias it... Maybe it needed further adjustment for running it with only 2 power tubes. I took it to a tech today, so i cant answer the plate glowing thing. But Im sure that was it. They were glowing...
Hey SSO. 3 days ago I replaced the power tubes on my *older* 100watt Dual Rec head. I was going for the "half power mode". After some research, I put 2 6l6 power tubes in the right locations, and 1 rectifier tube in. I plugged an 8 ohm cab into the 4 ohm out of the head. It worked great...
I was disappointed with my emg's at first, but i raised my action and adjusted my eq a bit and now i love them. I personally wouldn't bother with passives.
Thanks haha. I spent around $200 on this mod (already had all the tools):yesway: I still really want the meshuggah ibanez tho  maybe i'l have to build one.
It sounds very clear with good sustain. this is my first time trying an after market pickup thats not emg. Thanks! I was short on money and i rarely use the neck pickup so i had to pass on one.:noway: Thanks. My dad and I made it. I had rgd gas. sorry to the rga lovers
Thanks! Nope. It will happen in the future though :hbang: Its a hammer hanger from the hardware store. i beat it wider with a hammer and a vise and screwed it into a wall stud.
Hey guys. I am sort of new here, but here's my newly modded rga8. (still very impatiently waiting for a volume pot) The specs are: -alder body -ibanez rga8 bridge -ibanez rga8 neck -dimarzio d-activator 8 white w/ black poles enjoy!
