    Deathcore bands you DO like...

I'm totally gay for Winds of Plague's new album, the Great War. It is insanely awesome. The first track has gotta be one of the best album openings ever. Their previous album is really good as well. Definitely one of my favourite newer bands. And uh, I guess in terms of standard...

The ice cold black metal thread

    Fisher Or Barnes era Cannibal

And after the show he goes to his laptop in the hotel to play World of Warcraft... :)

Why do the Japanese get all the wacky cool shaped guitars???

ESP has a fuckton of guitars they don't sell here, I wish they would make them available too! I love the designs. Last time I checked the Japanese website they had a whole bunch of Strat-style ESP's as well.

    Fisher Or Barnes era Cannibal

I will have to say Barnes. I like all eras of Cannibal Corpse, but The Bleeding was by far the best album in terms of all instruments involved. Tomb of the Mutilated was also fantastic, as was Eaten Back to Life. I still like a lot of Cannibal Corpse post-Barnes, but I don't really care for...

Soo... I got the new judas priest record - Nostradamus

I haven't given it much of a chance. The solos in Revelations are epic, but there was too much orchestra crap on the rest of the album for me to really take the time to listen to all of it. But I still plan to listen to the whole thing one day... :D

BRIAN POSEHN - Metal By Numbers (piss yourself laughing content)

I love this vid.. so funny. Started watching some of the other Brian Posehn vids on youtube after this.. great stuff. The verse part of Metal by Numbers is actually really good, minus the vocals :)

DEATH METAL CONTENT - I need you guys to pick our best song please - competition

My vote goes for Empire. It sounds the most interesting, and it's pretty powerful straight from the get-go. Depending on how many bands the organizers are listening to, they might even be listening to only the first minute of the song. I really don't know how it works, just a guess. And in...

Random ideas turning into a song.

Those are great, any one of those ideas would fit well in a song.. specifically the minute or so, and I also really like the lead at 2:15-2:30. Good lead tone, too..

    Metal Documentary

Haha, that sounds awesome... For some reason I thought Metal: AHJ was more about classic metal or something. That's just the way it seemed, so I never gave it a second look. I'll have to check it out.

Forever On the Waves...My "Pirate Metal"

That sounds really good! I love the melodies.. I think you need something to break up the constant lead playing though. If there was some rhythm in there or room for some vocals, it might give the lead bits more impact when they kick in again.

    Recommend me some 'classic' death...

Some of my older favs are the following... Nile - Amongst the Catacombs of Nephren-Ka Suffocation - Pierced From Within Deicide - Once Upon the Cross Morbid Angel - Domination, Altars of Madness Cannibal Corpse - The Bleeding, Eaten Back to Life, Tomb of the Mutilated, Vile Malevolent...

"Pain - Follow Me" with Annette from Nightwish

Well I don't mind Annette in Nightwish, and I like a few Pain songs, but I really can't stand this song. It just sounds.. bad. Catchy without anything good to catch on to, I guess. Oh well, to each their own :)

    Demoniacs Industrial thread.

Man I would never have considered Acid Bath industrial. I love them, but I'd call it southern doom metal or something :) Oh well. That's quite a list! I'll be working through it to discover some good new stuff.. it's cool that you have a bit of a description for each band. It helps. Also...

Need 5/6 string bass and amp on the cheap

I just ordered an ESP LTD B-55.. from reading up on it i've heard some good stuff, and it's only $230. I'm using my current bass through my Line6 Guitarport, using POD Farm which has bass amp and cab modelling. It sounds good, and it's cheaper than buying an amp.

    Music DVD's

Good thread idea.. I've been meaning to get some other music DVD's to watch. I recommend Cannibal Corpse's Centuries of Torment.. there's a DVD that's purely an interview-based history of the band, then another DVD for concert footage, and a third for bonus materials. The price of admission...

What're some good tremolo picking techniques?

This may or may not help, but I like to keep my hand as relaxed and rubbery as possible. My hands mainly become sore and tired from tensing up while I play, so tremolo picking is no big deal unless you're playing it tense. It took me some practice not to tense up when I try to speed up.

Bands / Songs in Drop D

Vital Remains is my fav drop-d band. Deicide also used drop-d tuning on "Insineratehymn". Some great songs on that album as well.

How to get AWESOME Death metal tone with the line6 Toneport

Or post a sound clip :) I don't have a 7 string at the moment, but I'll try it out. Sounds interesting! I have some pretty good tones right now, but I'm using a different cab setup. 4x12 Line 6 cabs with the "newer" looking mic. I can't remember what it's called.
