I have an Axis SS, which I bought new about 10 years ago and it's a great guitar with excellent build quality. I've always wanted to get a plain Axis (floyd -rose model) to compliment it.

My RG8 is a really solid guitar and was a great way to test the water with 8 strings. Didn't have any setup issues with mine and the only negative thing I could say is that the stock pickups are pretty dull (but that's an easy fix). $650 seems like a good price too for AU.

Hey mate, I would recommend some books by Troy Stetina, namely, Fretboard Mastery, and Speed Mechanics for Lead Guitar if you can get them cheap enough. I am working on them now and they seem quite logical and come with cds.
