I actually have tried both and both suit their styles differently. To clear up the gossip, there has been issues with the rga8, not the 2228, due to defects though, stuff like that happens unfortunately. Doesn't mean its not good though: now, the rga8 suits more of a lead players work, because...
This line of guitars is amazing, the woods work together very well, especially the ebony fretboard is just awesome! I'd say go for it, and if you do, theres a guy selling one on ebay for 500ish, looks really good! :hbang:
The rings sound like a good option but ill save it for last because of some tonal preferences i have, but do the covers interfere with the pickups tonality in any way, like the materials in any sort?
Replacing those pickups with something else would require some extra space being cut out, or drilled, by a professional, even more so if you were to plan replacing those pickups with EMGs, you'd need an even bigger space.
IMO the best guitars you can go with, if you find used mint, Jackson SLAT3-7 (MIJ makes for a great pick), Schecter Loomis 7 (String Thru or FR depending on your preference), Ibanez rg1527 or rgd2127 (which has a larger scale but really really hard to find used), and the ESP mh-417 (nowadays can...
Cold sweat in the neck is for sure the way to go! But the bridge is more along your preference, Aftermath is more for a chug type sound as in Meshuggah, where they just drop 7 string beats and it sounds really intense! Cold sweat doesn't boom as much as the Aftermath, but its more dynamic and...
I use the tone control for some mellow soloing, as in when i drop the tone knob about a little less than half, my tone becomes real pick sensitive, so my leads come out more to how i try and express it, if that makes sense?
I'm buying a Jackson Soloist 7 string very soon, and i plan to immediately replace the 707s equipped on it with Bareknuckles, Lungdrens, something along those lines! Is there any trouble that i might come across switching these pickups, in terms of the fit or anything like that? Also any...
Dean Vendettas are a decent choice for 7 string beginners, but if you wanna start off right and keep within a budget, try the Schecter string thru Damien Elites, imo they are along some high quality bolt on guitars!
